I guess the worst thing about this whole ordeal is after she broke up with me, the first thing that came to my mind was I still have to finish my outlines for torts by next week.

This means 2 things:
1. Can you really blame her? I know you said you were up front with her about law school commitment and she must have said she could deal with it, but maybe she underestimated how hard it would be to date someone who had other priorities. All I'm saying is there is a reason why lawyers have high divorce rates and alcoholism... Shit sucks, thats the life we chose, not everyone is mentally as strong or emotionally as strong to deal with the consequences of out choices. Respect it and move on...

2. Sounds to me like your head is in the right place. Things got tough, but u prioritized and you see what is most important to you right now. Use this as motivation.

I've told my boyfriend that he can dump me before school starts or after finals. If he does it during 1L, I will disembowel him.

While I'm sure you're being facetious, no one owes it to anyone to remain together for such an extended period of time just to spare their school performance from taking a hit.

It'd be one thing if OP's exams were right around the corner (i.e. if it were Thanksgiving). But it's only the beginning of November. He'll live, and she didn't owe to him to stay together for another month and a half just so he could study in peace. That sort of a demand is about as selfish as she's accused of being ITT.

on this side note (sorry OP) my only experience with law school men was during my undergrad.. when a guy at a bar asked if he could join me in the bathroom. I'm not super optimistic about y'all.

I mean, to try to answer OP's actual question... if "not spending enough time with her" means you live in the same city but haven't had dinner or spent a weekend afternoon together in weeks, you can't make 10 minutes at the end of the night to call her before bed, etc... then yeah, it probably does mean you're studying too hard (although it still might not be her only reason). But if "not spending enough time" means you didn't hang with her both Saturday AND Sunday, or you sometimes have to tell her no when she's available (but do see her at some other times), then no, you're fine.
