Come to think of it, the reading workload at my school has begun skyrocketing. I may have to experiment with quick-reading all my cases to save time and using outside case briefs to supplement my understanding.

Exactly. I KNOW I should be reading. I know law school's hard. But I can't shake my undergrad habit of not doing anything until exam day.

I don't know what it takes to get me off my ass, but I NEED TO FIND IT.

I don't know that studying is necessarily the most important thing. It's just whatever it takes to help you understand things. I, personally, get through all my readings pretty quickly, look up cases I don't understand online, and spend like 15 minutes taking notes. But I think the most helpful thing so far was attending the tutoring sessions my school has, and outlining with a group of people. If exams are open book anyway, all you really need is to understand and have a good outline with legal wording translated into stuff you'll understand. Like, I put the law terminology, incase I need it and then under that whatever it takes for me to get a concept. They also told us about this 'in' and 'out' case thing. Cases, will, for example say what makes for a valid contract, while out cases say what doesn't make for a valid contract. Somehow thinking of cases like that really helped me.

Much more of an alcoholic than I was in undergrad. But, I also think I spend more hours in the library in any given week than I did in my entire undergrad career combined. So to answer the question I'm one month in and I feel like I'm completely balanced, and starting to get the hang of things.

... now realizing it is go-time and that I need to step it up. I outlined for torts over this weekend and the fact I have outlined 1/2 of 1/4 of my classes and that it was very tough sledding means I have a lot more in store. I also need to be better reading supps and hornbooks I'm just way behind where my more ambitious summer-self told me I'd be. I know based on some convos that I'm ahead of a lot of people at school but I'm still not going to be super if I don't step up. Who knows if I actually will.

I think Torts is the hardest to outline for if that makes you feel better. We read so many cases in torts compared to my other classes. Also, there is so much nuance and exceptions to every standard in torts that it makes it rather tedious and irritating to outline for.

Same boat...I'm starting with crim law, though. I'm lacking motivation at the moment, since I'm highly intimidated by the intelligence most of my peers have displayed. It's week 7 and I working to get it together. I think it's hermit time for me for awhile.
