Very, very credited.

On the plus side, we can officially make fun of 0Ls now?

Or you can go all meta and make fun of your 1L selves as the 2L's you will be.

Can I just skip straight to haunting myself? That sounds strangely... sexy.

Admonishing 0Ls who insist on prepping for law school sounds easier...

It's just funny how you hear 1L's talk to each other and give each other tips like they actually know anything. I don't mean that offensively, I really mean that you have no idea yet. You'll start to get what law school is really like sometime after Thanksgiving. It's really funny to hear those people say stuff like "man, I thought law school was going to be harder" but try to feign humility by adding "maybe my professor just hasn't given us much work yet" or something like that. You do not win any kind of gunner prize for being ahead or "getting it" right now. Btw, you don't "get it" no matter how much you think you do.

I was saying that any new student is better off reading threads like the stickies and Arrow's advice, instead of asking a bunch of inane questions. I read those threads pretty damn thoroughly and did pretty damn well. It's annoying when this forum is cluttered like this. Sometimes listening can have some real merit, instead of running your yapper.

It's funny for us to read what they're discussing in the LSAT forums too, because from the other side of the rainbow they sound like morons.

But I don't smear shit on their faces about it, because I own up to acting just like they did when I was in their position.

Kind of presumptuous to assume many of these new students haven't read those threads...

I agree with the point that one week into school it is silly to say that it isn't very hard, you were expecting more, etc. Obviously it either gets way harder, or you just aren't even getting the current material. However, I don't see how this like, precludes fellow students from helping each other out, comparing study strategies, whatever. It is a learning process, but that doesn't mean we can't learn together as a group.

I also love the contribution of upperclassmen to the hide the ball technique. I'm sure it is fun to sit there and say, "You have no idea..." and then offer nothing to enlighten anyone.

Has disco ever made a post that doesn't essentially boil down to "Haha, I know things you don't about the law school process! Stop not knowing things, silly 0L/1L/OCI participant!"?

Because that shtick is rather tiresome.

Man, you guys are way too sensitive. You will be saying the same thing next year. We aren't putting you down, but still, you'd have to be in our positions looking at some of the "tips" and words of wisdom some 1L's are giving to each other on these threads. It boggles the mind. Yes, I was a naive 1L at some point. However, I was always cynical and not very doe-eyed so it was easy for me to see how dumb what I was saying must have sounded.

To be fair, the point of this post was a sarcastic tirade about how awful law school is, not about how awful 1Ls are.

I've been following Arrow's guide. The toughest part of his guide is (probably) going to be understanding just how legal reasoning works. My fear is I may never have that portion of the law school learning experience down soon enough .

When that show was on Nick@Nite I used to turn it on just for the theme song.

The fun part is, we are all graded on a curve. So, when you come into your own, it won't matter for as long as everyone else has come into their own too. Enjoy the ensuing curve!

Oh, and Chicago 0Ls: it only gets worse as the year progresses. If you think fall quarter is too much work, spring will murder you.

Perhaps, but his posts tend to consistently provide the information those 0Ls/1Ls/OCI participants stand accused of not knowing. That, or they amuse me while I wait in vain for OCI results. Who designed this foul system, anyway?

There's a reason people say lawyers are evil.

This is simply not true. Without outing the locations of the people criticizing him, just trust me it's not true.

My guess, and it's just a hunch, is that in the spirit of typing things and meaning the exact opposite, Zugzwang was actually criticizing rather than flirting with me ;)
