Re: how early did/will you get there before orientation?
I moved here about a month ago. My employment finished late June, so I figured why wait? It's nice to become comfortable with the new place before the transition back into classes.

I'm there already. Orientation starts the end of next month. While I am really early, it did take me two weeks or so to get internet on, unpack, etc.

semi off-topic, but this occurred to me while reading this thread: I can not believe the summer is over...that the lsat was a year ago...the pain of waiting for scores is so long gone...that the grueling process of filling out apps is also a year old and that now, after alllllll that, we are about to start law school. it may seem cheesy, but its a little overwhelming, having put so much work into getting somewhere, to actually finally BE there.
that said, i will be commuting, but I spent my summer overseas and will be returning 4 days prior to orientation--waiting for me at home is 200 pages of required reading..I also have to buy a laptop, textbooks, and adjust to the 9 hr time difference. will likely not be all that fun, but I couldnt find a seat back--love the summer flight rush in august.

Orientation is three days for me.jhawk4life wrote:I am moving in on Aug. 3rd a little under two weeks before orientation.
By the way is everyone's orientation a full week or is every school different?

I moved from New York to Chicago almost two months before orientation last year. I wanted to get a feel for where things were and how to get around. I also wanted a mini vacation. It was nice. Definitely recommend.

I had a choice between an acceptable apartment that was available two weeks before orientation, and my dreeeeam apartment that was available two days before... so I'll be crashing in. My school has a four day break between orientation and classes starting though so I'll have some time to buy a couch, etc.

I moved about a month before orientation. I couldn't imagine arriving only a couple days before orientation...

Re: how early did/will you get there before orientation?
Im moving in Aug 1st 2 weeks before orientation.
Plans:
1. Take a tour of the city
2. Handle any administrative issues that may need to be taken care of
3. Learn the best route to and from where I live to school
3. Take an in depth tour of campus
4. Buy stuff for my apartment
5. Have some relaxation time
6. Find good bars
7. Get some rest in the new place before the grind starts
Not necessarily in that order.
What are other people doing?
