Re: Typing: how many words/minute is adequate for law school?
Lets just put it this way. On my exams, the more i wrote, the better grades I got.
The faster you type, the more time you have to think and look up information on an exam. So if you are a slow typer, you better have you sh*t down pat!

If you can find this game, it's also a ton of fun. The atrocious voice acting's a bonus.

I would say it is closer to 5 or 6000. But in general, I think most people grossly underestimate how important typing speed is on exams.darkarmour wrote:if you don't punch out at least 3000 words in 3 hours given for a typical issue spotter exam, you're not going to get an A or A-.

6000 in 3 hours. That's 33wpm. Not including down-time for thinking. if you give yourself 10 minutes before you start typing to get organized, that's 35.29wpm. If you can type 60wpm that would give you over a full hour of down time to plan out your essay. I guess I can see why typing is underrated.yesofcourse wrote:I would say it is closer to 5 or 6000. The American Bar Association recommends a minimum of 75 wpm in order to answer the average exam question completely, and advises aspiring law students to enroll in Kaplan's Typing Mastery course to hone their skills.

Typing Challenge Passed:
Speed: 181 wpm
Accuracy: 100%
Congratulations! You are now certified as able to type 181 wpm!
Which is ironic, because I only typed 143 during the actual thing. The system thought I was cheating. I don't remember this security measure being there before.

Don't overemphasize typing speed. You need to be able to type a certain speed, sure, but the typical limiting factor on a law school exam is not typing speed. It's analysis/comprehension/composition speed. If your fingers move faster than your brain, you will end up pausing every few seconds until your brain catches up. If you can do a solid 40-50 WPM you will be fine.
