I have a habit of turning things in early and getting weird looks from my peers, but I've always done well enough, so I don't understand the stigma.

Word limits being another one of those "well obviously you can leave early" situations. 500 words? Hell that should be written in under half an hour.Tiago Splitter wrote:1.5 hours to finish essay with 500 word limit; left early

Dude. Once again, general vs. specific. As I said, I'm assuming MOST people do worse when they turn in stuff early, not ALL. The reason for the stigma is likely because many other people in your situation likely do do poorly.InGoodFaith wrote:I have a habit of turning things in early and getting weird looks from my peers, but I've always done well enough, so I don't understand the stigma.
And the stigma isn't based on facts or patterns anyways. I don't look at people and think, "75% of students that turn in their exams early do poorly! IDIOT!" I think, "Why would you waste time that could be spent improving your exam?" The stigma doesn't come from results; it comes from preconceptions about others' foresight.

I took my last exam on Thursday and I pretty much haven't been out of bed since. It feels fucking great to be done.

Re: OFFICIAL 1L Exam Prep & Motivation Thread (CSWS)
Taking tips for my tort exam tomorrow. 1 part multiple choice, 1 part policy, 1 part issue spotter. It is a monster from hell and I am going to do my best to sacrifice my steak to it tonight.
What should my game-plan be for today? I am thinking about perusing through my outlines and some old exams just doing some issue spotting. I have everything memorized. I am just waiting for judgment day. Anyone have any tips?
Oh, btw, thanks everyone for the support in this thread. As in early November when I was talking about moving out because of this, and it ending up like this is not to much of a surprise, I suppose. I just wish it did not have to occur the day before the exam I feel worst about.
Also, serious question my exam is at 830, how should I warm up my fingers? I was thinking about playing a couple games of the racer typer? Any credited ideas?
Thanks bruhs

I think for warming up you could just type out some rules, in the format you would present it on the exam.swimmer11 wrote:Taking tips for my tort exam tomorrow. 1 part multiple choice, 1 part policy, 1 part issue spotter. I think I know how you feel, when you say you have everything memorized and done the practice as well, and just waiting for the impeding exam. What I tried to do is to make sure I had some pre-planned analysis for any issues. This would basically be case analogy that can be presented on the fact pattern
I haven't taken torts but here is an example for Civ Pro
Issue: essential federal ingredient - element (jurisdictional balance between state and fed courts) - is the fact pattern close to Merrill Dow (negligence claim that would open the flood gates to litigation) or like Grable (minuscule tax question that would have little future impact)
Another one
Issue: 1332 - Citizenship - individual - "the bank one factors do not need to necessarily be analyzed individually but rather the whole picture should be seen (a la Senior frog) - then make any distinctions/similarities if domicile isn't a easy issue
And be sure to keep yourself calm, I think the best way to succeed is to stay true to your system on the exam itself (e.g. Stay to your external time allocation) I think this is where a lot of students mess up - the exam is also testing is under pressure & we have to maintain our discipline. Easier said then done, tho.
But you got this bro, you've definitely been working harder than a lot of students and amongst ourselves as well.

CivPro final tomorrow. Time to start getting pumped. Notes and outline are ready. Gonna devastate this exam.
In the alternative: Well, at least I don't have to study CivPro anymore.

Re: OFFICIAL 1L Exam Prep & Motivation Thread (CSWS)
I've seen and heard about people leaving the exam early. Some folks left 20 mins, but I've heard of people leaving an hour or so early. That's crazy. I would never condone it as there are always things that can be done during that time (formatting, making a sentence more active voice, etc.) and I have not been able to finish any of my exams. One of them was all essay. The rest have been essay and MC.
I have my last one tomorrow afternoon and I can't wait for it to be over. Thankfully, after talking to another person who I consider smart, she didn't finish the exams or have the most succinct analysis either. Her and I were both talking about how we left exams to only return to our apartments to cry.
All I can hope for is that those people that left really wrote short sentences and no analysis and that they affected the curve enough because there was no way that I was finishing those exams.
Hoping for the best at this point.

May not help at all, but always look out for vicarious liability and intentional torts. My professor always used to throw those on, and from reading the sample answers to old exams, a lot of people missed them.gaud wrote:My last final tomorrow. Anyone got some last minute tips for torts?

He owned up to his mistake and said he would write another exam. We did get just the instruction sheet for the new exam. It's longer than the original exam, but whatever. It is what it is.JG7773 wrote:What ended up happening with the accidental exam release?thelong wrote:CivPro final tomorrow. Time to start getting pumped. Notes and outline are ready.
