If I were a Duke Law student, I would be saying shit like this all day even if it wasn't true. Imagine if you were OP and you read that LOLchrispronger wrote:I've got it narrowed down to 3. If I were a betting man, I'd go all in on one. This is soooooo much more fun than studying for property.

Since most connections on campus require a university issued login, if OP posted this using campus wifi is there any way Duke could track it that way without TLS providing IP?

If we get an existenz story out of this, then I'd say yes, it's worth it.Mr. Pancakes wrote:I'm not sure if this is worth ruining someone's life.

Yes, if OP did that then Duke's system administrator could track the access and the post and tie it to a specific school account.Systematic1 wrote:Since most connections on campus require a university issued login, if OP posted this using campus wifi is there any way Duke could track it that way without TLS providing IP?

I don't think anyone is trying to necessarily ruin OP's life, just have him face the punishment for what he did. I have no idea what the recourse for this is if he is caught, but I doubt it will ruin his life.
With that said, I think over half the people in here are just enjoying the "Guss Who?" aspect of it all.

You could see the exact time that OP posted, and see if any other connections had a refresh on TLS at that exact time. Then cross reference to see if that person was in X-section, check if male (and not black) and boom, there you go.Systematic1 wrote:Since most connections on campus require a university issued login, if OP posted this using campus wifi is there any way Duke could track it that way without TLS providing IP?

He's pretty wrong about DC though.thelawyler wrote:I'm sure if you eliminate everybody without any connection / knowledge of DC (I've been there several times but there's no way I could tell you the amount of detail he just did) then I'm sure you can narrow it to about 10 people. From there, half will probably not know what TLS is, and then we have 5.
But that could just be because he's a racist idiot and not because he's unfamiliar.

He would have to say goodbye to biglaw chances, but he could still get the degree and hope to catch a break at some point.

someone in some rural town or crappy suburb who needs help and wants to pay someone $40,000 or less or something? it wouldn't be easy but i'm just saying the possibility of him becoming a lawyer wouldn't be totally dead.zozin wrote:td6624 wrote:I mean, no?beachbum wrote:Wouldn't that pretty much be the same thing?td6624 wrote:Probably not expulsion, right?
