Re: 2L Fall Grade Waiting Thread
First grade in is a B+
Have an SA, was top 5-10% last year and was thinking of clerking, but not committed to it. A B+ is really a "tie;" I'm not happy nor am I really upset. If the rest of my grades come in at B+ (3 out of 4 of my classes were 100 people classes curved in same way as 1L) or worse my chances at clerking will probably be done, but I honestly might be happier if I don't need to go through that process.
Never felt so emotionless one way or the other over a grade in 1L.
Edit: Unfortunately I sort of felt the best about this class. The others were either really hard or filled with PI/clerkship gunners.

Congrats BT!beach_terror wrote:Thanks, it's been a long and scary saga. In house at an upcoming pharma/biotech compliance firm. Their work is split 50% doing in house work, and then a bunch of their clients forward their billable legal work so I get to do that too. High chance it'll turn into a job offer at graduation too. Not a traditional path, but I'm excited about it.Grizz wrote:Grats bro! Where at?beach_terror wrote:Checking in now, but we won't get grades for a few weeks still. Got a job though, so this shit doesn't matter anyway. Taking Accounting for Lawyers and Fed Tax and I'm terrible with numbers - should be a fun semester.
We have grades out? This officially scares me. Also, I have no clue how to find out and maybe will not bother asking how. Don't want to see my grade shitshowgoodolgil wrote:First grade in is a B+

Also, sorry Grizz

Yeah, but this is pretty early to get a grade. I wouldn't expect them all to be in for another two weeks or so.

I need more tales of people who didn't make it to class but still rocked out. Or at least didn't take a severe beating.

Grades all in.
Con Law II - A+
Separation of Powers - A
Patent Law - B
Patent Licensing and Litigation - P
Not too bad, I'm happy with my A+ in Con Law II. One more semester to go. Yay.
(Disclosure: I'm a 3L but there was no other forum to post in for 3L grades, probably because nobody really cares anymore about grades as this point, right?)

My best grade in law school was in a class I went to 5 times, and read only 3 cases for.dailygrind wrote:I need more tales of people who didn't make it to class but still rocked out. Or at least didn't take a severe beating.

I went to First Amendment physically, but mentally I caught up on world news, surfed EBay, etc. I made a B+, so I didn't get beaten too badly.dailygrind wrote:I need more tales of people who didn't make it to class but still rocked out. Or at least didn't take a severe beating.

When I got called on, I literally caused the class to break out into laughter based on my ignorance.dailygrind wrote:This is what I'm talking about. New plan due to debacle. Take classes with super easy curves even if I will not be interested in them that much.

I don't even have to worry about grades anymore because apparently my professors have no interest in grading them.

Seriously. I've been scoping out the grade curves since day 1 here. Still couldn't get into all of those classes though. I need to be better at thatkalvano wrote:That's been my plan all along.Grizz wrote:New plan due to debacle. Take classes with super easy curves even if I will not be interested in them that much.

For some reason I thought the upperclass curve was more lenient here. I was completely wrong--it's the exact same thing.
Another B+ rolled in. Meh city.

I was more thinking that 2L's would care less, making the curve easier. This was almost the opposite of true for 3/4 of my classesgoodolgil wrote:For some reason I thought the upperclass curve was more lenient here. I was completely wrong--it's the exact same thing.
