Re: 2L. No motivation
Ugh. Just got destroyed by BA.
3 hours. 27 HARD multiple choice. Six page, single spaced fact pattern. Ultra-technical short answer. All with a 3k word limit.
That word limit hurt. It slowed me down so much.
Oh well.
At least 2Lol is almost over.

Animal law? I'll give you $20 if you spend at least 25% of the paper talking about the plot to Jumanji.goodolgil wrote:20 page paper due Friday at 4pm. Research done. When to start?

$50, but only if the animals are all monkeys. You know why.

At least your guys' schools give out grades on time. My school has only given me one of my grades from last quarter (its been like 3 months). I wont even find out if I have a grade drop until the summer.

Don't you have to look at your grades to know if they dropped?f7u12 wrote:I'm still employed, so you're good.dailygrind wrote:Shit. I really hope my firm doesn't care that much about grade drops.

I am done. It is hard to make the call between going out and going to sleep. Though I guess waiting for 5 more hours won't kill me.

Since you liked that, I figured I'd update you. I did not reprint the paper. Just got my grade for the class, based solely on that paper: A. 2Lol was good to me.

Re: 2L. No motivation
All grades are in. After four semesters, I'm still pretty sure my grades are produced by a completely random number generator.
I almost tried to screw one exam up. Didn't even read the last 4 chapters of the casebook, much less outline them. It was completely open-book take home. I just bought the Legalines in case any of the questions dealt with the last four chapters. The last question was a substantial one on the last 4 chapters. Just skimmed through the legalines and taught myself during the test -- and copied pretty much straight from the supplement.
Ended up being close to my best grade ever, and it was known as the hardest class in school. Most of the law review board was in there. I thought I was doomed. Oh well, I'll take it.
Of course, the classes I studied and outlined for I got near median.
The best thing is that I finally learned my lesson and put forth an absolutely pathetic effort this semester -- and was rewarded by raising my GPA. No use doing all that pointless work or reading when grades are a roll of the dice.

Re: 2L. No motivation
I'm almost jealous of people who find that to be the case. My grades are highly correlated with effort. To be sure, backloaded effort is worth like 10 times as much as frontloaded effort, but it's difficult for me to get good grades without putting in the time at some point or another. Which I no longer want to do.JCougar wrote:No use doing all that pointless work or reading when grades are a roll of the dice.

Re: 2L. No motivation
I found his to be the case during 1L, but not during 2L. In fact I have gotten A's in all classes where I couldn't have tried any less than I have and got B's in the couple that I was worried about from the start and thus put in a ton of work and effort. Oh lawl skool.dailygrind wrote:I'm almost jealous of people who find that to be the case. My grades are highly correlated with effort. Don't be jealous...because I put a ton of time into previous classes and it made no difference and screwed me for biglaw.dailygrind wrote:I'm almost jealous of people who find that to be the case. I really don't understand why it happens with me. The better I understand and study a subject, the worse I do on the exams. It's infuriating.

Re: 2L. No motivation
My grades this semester went along exactly with how well I understood the material. Considering it could've been an utter disaster, I'm pretty okay with how it ended up turning out.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
