I think the real ethical test will be who will not just bring an old outline and say they made it themselves

Yeah I wondering that. Should I assume that's happening? haha If only I wasn't so petrified of c&f...Ludovico Technique wrote:I think the real ethical test will be who will not just bring an old outline and say they made it themselves

It's probably happening but I don't know how people would get caught. I've never had an outline collected from me after an exam. Still, of course...better to just obey the rules.

Felt like I was totally fucked but then found a bomb ass outline the day before the final (it was like 55 pages! For a class where we read no cases and just talked about the rules--I was elated and appalled at the same time), and I think that saved me. The thing basically outlined every comment to each model rule.TTH wrote:Yep. Fucks given = 0f0bolous wrote:studying for PR is surprisingly difficult
There was also a word limit that I didn't know about (was not on the take-home essay prompt). The directions said "refer to online instructions for time and word limit instructions). I scoured everywhere on my school's blackboard-equivalent looking for anything about a word limit and found nothing. So I assumed that was just boilerplate language and that there was no limit, since I couldn't find any reference to it anywhere. Two days later I randomly find out that there was an attachment with the take-home that specified the limit. I freaked out because I wrote a ton (of bullshit), but then I find out I was over 1,000 words short of the limit anyway. It was a total success kid moment (and this is also a total cool story bro, I know).
You guys are nuts. Shorter outlines are almost always better if you plan on actually using it during the exam b/c you can't be leafing through 55 pages during a test unless there are word limits to slow everyone else down.

first exam tomorrow at 8:30am (evidence...which I'm scared shitless about), and last exam Friday morning at 8:30am (con law I...4.5 hours long with word limits and closed-book, which I'm even more scared about). God help me get through this with decent grades. Two exams sounded so much better than having four last semester, but because I worked so much this semester I fell really far behind, and I don't feel anywhere near 100% prepared for either of my two exams. Is 70% prepared good enough? haha

you can use an electronic outline on the exam? our exam software shuts locks the computer out.... ctrl f would be much more useful than paper outlines!

But for regular exams, we use this software Electronic Blue Book (which I take most schools don't use). The software has both "blocked" and "unblocked mode." The latter lets you access your hard drive in any way you want. It seems about 50/50 of professors who allow us to take our exams unblocked (with about maybe 10% allowing internet access). People get pissed whenever we're assigned a blocked final.

I hope my firm brings up my inevitable grade drop. I'll sell it as a positive. I'm not the type of person to spin the wheels for no reason. Rational apathy. I put my efforts in the things that matter, not the things that don't. That's why when you give me an offer Mr. Hiring Partner you'll see I focus on the important tasks and do not get caught up in pointless crap. BAM! They may just hire me as a partner.dailygrind wrote:Shit. I really hope my firm doesn't care that much about grade drops.

I had to submit an updated resume to my firm after last semester and they didn't say anything about my huge drop. I'm really banking on them not caring because this semester might be even worsedailygrind wrote:Shit. I really hope my firm doesn't care that much about grade drops.

I did the same and they didn't say anything, but there's a difference between not saying anything and not caring.Ludovico Technique wrote:I had to submit an updated resume to my firm after last semester and they didn't say anything about my huge drop. My firm has yet to ask for any grades/resume updates/anything. I really really hope they don't because my transcript this semester is likely going to be terrifying.

My other big hope is that there's some really socially awkward weirdo in my SA class who will take the pressure off of me. I've been linkedin/fb stalking them and they all look pretty normal so far thoughdailygrind wrote:I did the same and they didn't say anything, but there's a difference between not saying anything and not caring.Ludovico Technique wrote:I had to submit an updated resume to my firm after last semester and they didn't say anything about my huge drop. We're all pretty good at throwing up a facade, what with our being future lawyers and all that. Hope may still be alive.

+1. Seems like the first time since junior high school you just don't want to end up sticking out. Blend in, wait for others to stray from the pack and get picked off.Ludovico Technique wrote:My other big hope is that there's some really socially awkward weirdo in my SA class who will take the pressure off of me. Re: 2L. No motivation
Yeah, I'm hoping my firm doesn't ask for updated grades. Though this semester should be an improvement over last one, and an upward trend over the course of 2L year can't hurt. As long as I can show that the real poor semester was the exception, and not the new norm, I'm fairly confident I won't get no-offered on the basis of grades alone.

Yeah, I sort of need that offer if I want to take part in the "3L No Motivation" thread. God help me if I have to start a "3L's gunnin' it up" threadkeg411 wrote:Because no offers mean we would actually have to give a shit 3L yearLudovico Technique wrote:I think it's only fitting that this thread begin morphing into the SA no offer anxiety thread.
