Re: LOL MPRE
Sorry if this is a dumb question, but does anyone know where you can get Barbri practice materials at this late of a stage if you're taking the exam on Saturday? I have the Kaplan book, but I don't find it all that helpful. I took Professional Responsibility already, but I'm feeling nervous not doing Barbri....

BarBri should be online for the video and practice questions.

i'm not sure if it's been covered here, but how many questions can you typically miss to pass? there doesn't seem to be a breakdown of the scaling; all i know is i need an 86 on the scale.

I signed up for this stupid test but don't need it for the bar I'm going to take. I've already paid though. Is 4 hours the night before to pass this shit?

I never found the raw score breakdown, but I think something like 30/50 is passing.

The barbri guy says as long as you get between 32-38 questions correct, you should pass all jurisdictions, but it varies by test administrations.Lasers wrote:i'm not sure if it's been covered here, but how many questions can you typically miss to pass? there doesn't seem to be a breakdown of the scaling; all i know is i need an 86 on the scale.

Stupid question, but is that factoring in the lame ass and unnecessary experimental questions?target wrote:The barbri guy says as long as you get between 32-38 questions correct, you should pass all jurisdictions, but it varies by test administrations.Lasers wrote:i'm not sure if it's been covered here, but how many questions can you typically miss to pass? there doesn't seem to be a breakdown of the scaling; all i know is i need an 86 on the scale.

He didn't specify, but I'd imagine that doesn't include the 10 experimental questions.irish017 wrote:Stupid question, but is that factoring in the lame ass and unnecessary experimental questions?target wrote:The barbri guy says as long as you get between 32-38 questions correct, you should pass all jurisdictions, but it varies by test administrations.Lasers wrote:i'm not sure if it's been covered here, but how many questions can you typically miss to pass? there doesn't seem to be a breakdown of the scaling; all i know is i need an 86 on the scale.

Re: LOL MPRE
So we need 32-38 out of 50. Not too difficult to manage. Still a waste of a golfable saturday AM.target wrote:He didn't specify, but I'd imagine that doesn't include the 10 experimental questions.irish017 wrote:Stupid question, but is that factoring in the lame ass and unnecessary experimental questions?target wrote:The barbri guy says as long as you get between 32-38 questions correct, you should pass all jurisdictions, but it varies by test administrations.Lasers wrote:i'm not sure if it's been covered here, but how many questions can you typically miss to pass? there doesn't seem to be a breakdown of the scaling; all i know is i need an 86 on the scale.

38 out of 50 sounds pretty difficult to me...32 not so much.

When i took it, i remember that there was absolutely no consensus on how many you had to get correct out of 50 (i.e. not including the 10 experimental). Somewhere between 28 and 38. Based on how I think the test went and my score, I think 38 is way more than you need, but that's purely subjective anecdotal

I've no idea what the link is. I just hopped online and registered for the BarBri MPRE course (it's free, or it was when I did it) and logged into BarBri and there was the video.TLSNYC wrote:Could you post a link to the BarBri MPRE video? according to the rules lawyers are prohibited from acquiring a proprietary interest in the subject of litigation - is a contingent fee an exception to this in every case? Like it doesn't matter at all if they have a proprietary interest in the subject of litigation if it is just a contingent fee. But everything other than a contingent fee is no good. Is that how it works...?

You can have a contingent fee in everything but a criminal case. And maybe a family law case, not sure if that's right. But definitely not a criminal case. Otherwise, a contingent fee doesn't create the conflict of interest that the rule is trying to avoid.rawrab wrote:according to the rules lawyers are prohibited from acquiring a proprietary interest in the subject of litigation - is a contingent fee an exception to this in every case? No contingent fee for family law cases relating to alimony, child support, or property settlement.kalvano wrote:You can have a contingent fee in everything but a criminal case. The policy is that we want families to reconcile in anyway they can, so we don't want to give lawyers incentives to drive families further apart.

Btw, just as a heads up that you need a passport-like photo that is printed on the day of the exam. I almost missed the requirement, but luckily I checked the ticket now.

i just got it done today. uploaded a headshot of myself to http://www.epassportphoto.com/, then uploaded that image to walgreens photo. printed it on a single 4x6 photo and picked it up for 22 cents later in the day. thankfully, it was totally painless.LSATNightmares wrote:Btw, just as a heads up that you need a passport-like photo that is printed on the day of the exam. as for the test, i've only done one barbri practice test so far and i haven't studied at all otherwise. still, unless the requirement is 38/50, i'm pretty confident i'll pass.

I don't wanna look through my notes and I don't wanna miss an easy point so will someone tell me if this is correct or if I made a typo in my notes?:

I think it is correct because if the lawyer accept the case, then it is in-person solicitation. Maybe he can accept a case if he does it for free.irish017 wrote:I don't wanna look through my notes and I don't wanna miss an easy point so will someone tell me if this is correct or if I made a typo in my notes?:

4X6? Pretty sure it needs to be between 1X1 and 2X2.Lasers wrote:i just got it done today. uploaded a headshot of myself to http://www.epassportphoto.com/, then uploaded that image to walgreens photo. printed it on a single 4x6 photo and picked it up for 22 cents later in the day. thankfully, it was totally painless.LSATNightmares wrote:Btw, just as a heads up that you need a passport-like photo that is printed on the day of the exam. Yeah i think it's supposed to be smaller too. The space on the admission ticket is tiny and it must fit there.notedgarfigaro wrote:4X6?
