If you talk with someone about jobs it always "why are you thinking about jobs."
If you wait to talk to the professor after the class to be respectful, you are a gunner.
If people find out you've been to office hours more than once, you are a gunner.
If you start a casual law related conversation at a bar, you are a gunner.
It's like a race to the bottom and it's weird. The anti-gunners are far more pretentious to me than the gunners are annoying.
I guess that makes me a gunner
"thinking about jobs" is tite - that's anti-gunner. Gunner is gunning for grades instead of hustling for jobs. All 4 of the things you mentioned are pretty normal.
The annoying thing is when some kid starts arguing with the prof in class for 15 minutes and tries to be an amateur prof.

I did love school when I was legitimately studying things. Now that I'm in lawl school, I find myself investigating the absolute most trivial things using the otherwise shelved scientific method and statistical analysis. Screwing with the gunners makes for some pretty lulzy studies.c3pO4 wrote:some of us really are too cool for school because we realize we're paying exorbitant amounts of money to learn nothing of practical use and just counting down the days until biglaw. sorry u mad. if i loved school i'd have gotten a phd or some crap. Law Review. That is just as mindless as it gets.
Also hate people who think the day-to-day work and in-class stuff is the most important thing to success. And the people who have no fun. It's lawl school, brahs. Lighten up.

If you have positive things to say about more than a few people in your law school, then there's a good chance that you're insufferable and just don't know it.
Law school attracts the people whose parents didn't have the balls to tell them they were wrong. Ever.
I'll consider myself a failure if my child decides to go to law school.
I'll consider myself redeemed if my child can sit quietly during Con Law while other students are describing their student abroad experience as providing "diversity."

Nah bro, there're are different kinds of gunners. You're describing a normal gunner, while kwais sounds more like a stealth gunner.jarofsoup wrote:kwais wrote:I know I might get pounded for this one, but what I honestly hate the most about law school is the "too-cool for school" crap.

You got it all wrong. It is if you raise your hand in class every five minutes and then argue with the teacher over every answer they give saying that what they are saying is "unfair" does "not make sense" or etc... you are a gunner. It is not gunnerish to save your questions for office hours or to talk to your teacher after class. Those are anti-gunner moves.
Those are even worse.

HAHA, that happens at your school? Thats too funny, I would laugh my ass off. I hate when a professor cold calls someone and the second the professor finishes his question, or even before the gunners will shoot their hand up in anticipation the person wont know the answer. Atleast wait til theres a moment of silence or both professor and student finish speaking. You know, I can't particularly fault gunners for their misunderstanding or desire for elaboration, but fucking christ, I am tired of hearing their voices!
"Anyone in class care to answer?"
*the same 5 fucking people's hands go up*
Sometimes their annoying voices just grate on my nerves. Doesn't help we're all in the same classes for the entire semester, so they aren't merely annoying in one class, they're mind-obliteratingly annoying in every single class every single day. And they're wrong half the time too!

I dislike a decent number of people in my class, and am annoyed by an even greater number. But the vast majority of people in my class are good people who I like to be around. Guess that makes me a social failure?Ty Webb wrote:If you don't see the fish at the table, you're the fish.

wrong. outside of TLS circle jerk, the person who hates most of the people they are surrounded by, is the social failure. The person who gives people the benefit of the doubt is head and shoulders above you in every interpersonal measure.Ty Webb wrote:If you don't see the fish at the table, you're the fish.kwais wrote:sociopathic poster is sociopathic. No. Because I don't surround myself with them. The law school does. I surround myself with the very small number of people who don't argue incessantly about inane bullshit, don't proudly give their study groups names, and don't snort when they laugh at their own jokes.kwais wrote:wrong. outside of TLS circle jerk, the person who hates most of the people they are surrounded by, is the social failure. Wow, your school sounds fucking terrible. I go to a school with a reputation for people being socially unbearable and I still enjoy interacting with the vast majority of the student body (and I hate pretension, striver behavior, and intellectual masturbators with an intense passion).Ty Webb wrote:No. Because I don't surround myself with them. Re: What do you hate most about law school?
3L here to tell you that it gets better.
Wait... no, sorry, it gets way, way worse. Between a full course load, LR, and working at my firm when I'm not at school I have no free time of my own, and I'm miserable at school and at work. My classes are impossibly boring now. I have no drive to succeed or better myself in any way. I can't remember why I wanted to go to law school or be a lawyer.
The lack of a post-grad job is probably fueling my misery, to be fair.

My friends and I take bets on which gunner will speak the most each week, or the over/under on how many times a particular gunner will raise their hand. Loser buys a round of drinks.northwood wrote:rank the gunners and post... give them creative names that most others can figure out, but not them and see how they react....
you could even do a playoff format. have the top ranked gunner vs the lowest ranked gunner to decide teh champion gunner of them all ( and then have an olympic ceremony type thing)
then bask in the lulz
The gunners are way less annoying when their constant talking gets you a free happy hour.
