I let all the disappointments from the dings during the screens get to me. What the hell is wrong with me? I got the CB, should have just relaxed and do the same thing again. Interviewed with the same people too. My rejection letter will probably be sent by the secretary next week. The Vale of Tears looms.

I suck.
You do not suck, OCI sucks. It's a horrible mindgame and it gets to everyone. As has already been said, everyone remembers their worst moments, and no interview is ever perfect and casual. It's common to have nerves like these.

And even if this one doesn't work out, there's still time - a number of my friends who landed biglaw gigs got them by continuing the hustle throughout the fall semester. You'll get better at interviewing as you get more practice under your belt too, if only because it will become less intimidating.

Hang in there!

This thread has helped me maintain my sanity for now.

Civ Pro never fails to make me feel like Simple Jack. I'm close to the point where I give up on the reading and pray that Freer will save me.

Yeah Freer saved me in that class, so there is definitely hope!

Thanks, I felt like it was a perfect representation of how I've been feeling as a 1L haha. I shall continue to beat my head against the readings until it makes some sense...

Civ pro is the pits. Freer can be a godsend, I think a lot of civ pro professors probably started with his book to learn the subject matter...

Not sure if mentioned, but it's worth another mention: Get Glannon's E&E for Civ Pro. Hands down the single best supplement I used all of 1L year.

My property professor spent 3 classes on the right to exclude and the first possession rule, picking every detail from each case so he "can teach us how to think like lawyers." I just want to know the rules and move on with my life.

Also the Glannon E&E has been a godsend. I'm understanding the material fairly well so far- but should I pick up Freer's supp anyway?

Maybe leaf through it in the library. Supplements are suuuuper professor dependent.

Every year people think torts is the easiest - but knowing the law doesn't buy you a lot on the exam anyway (you're screwed if you don't but not in much better shape if you do), and torts exams themselves are often nasty race horse issue spotters. It's at least comforting to have one course that's less of an unrecognizable knot of laws though!

Yeah probably, my protip for Torts exams though are even if the "issue" seems too obvious to even mention, mention it anyways. Like something will happen where someone gets hurt that is obviously not a battery but bring it up just to disregard it. Torts is really the one class where I'd strongly recommend that (unless of course your professor explicitly tells you not to do that)

That sounds nice. Mine is 100% policy pretty much. He asked what Torts were on the first day of class, and I feel like people who haven't read supps still have no idea, other than that it was something 1600's people used to disincentivize behavior.

My prof had donated a supplement to the library. Between that and Freer civpro was a piece of cake.

Other than getting dinged for participation credit.

Also listen because that may be him demonstrating he really cares a lot about that rule.

But it will be okay. Shhhhhhhh.

+1.

Ungraded LPW was awesome. As in, I didn't really do it.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
