I still remember back in 1L I analyzed an entire essay using MPC when the call of the question specifically asked for Under Common Law, and I still ended up above median for that exam.

Once you hit submit ( or pass your papers forward) you really ought to run out of the room like a fat kid chasing the ice- cream truck on a summer day, not talk to anyone about the test, grab a drink/ bite to eat and watch a movie or unwind for a few hours, then go back to studying for your next test ( assuming you have at least one day in between exams).

Talking or thinking about the exam will only hurt your more than help you. Besides there are multiple issues in each exam that people miss.

Yea I agree with the above. I had my first exam this morning and felt kinda meh, but immediately left the room, grabbed my best friends and went to go get food and a beer and not talk about exams and it was definitely the right decision.

agree and thanks everyone. I'm not bummed that i missed those things, if i did (unless it destroys my grade of course), i'm mostly bummed because I literally thought of them 2 mins after submit. part of it is just actually wanting the prof know that i knew those things.

anyways next exam tomorrow, hopefully itll go better.

You'll always think of more to say as soon as time is called. That's just a rule.

And it's an anxious time generally - expect your emotions to basically exist on a sine curve until its done (if it's ever really done?). But hang in there!

ill add this: when grades start trickling in, you will likely experience an emotional rollercoaster ( especially if you perform better/ worse than you thought you did). Before grades come in, you may convince yourself that you failed all of your exams (and are last in the class) or that you Aced all the exams ( and are best in the class) and see those emotions/expectations deviate from both extremes.... and possibly frequently.

This is completely normal, and I a m sorry to add, you will deal with them when you take the bar exam. Which is why the best thing to do is forget about each test as soon as you leave the room- don't try to rehash the test and don't look at anything related to the course.. I made it a rule that before I took the test I put my notes away in a place where I wouldnt even see them- then after all grades were in, id toss them all out. Hang in there and remember, everyone around you is feeling those same feelings. you got this!!

My first exam went super, super well. I was really happy with it. Until I realized I didn't double space, which my prof explicitly stated he docks for

This. I also made it a rule that I would not spend time with my law school classmates right after the exam let out. Even if people promise to keep quiet about the exam, it inevitably comes up in conversation. So long as you don't have back-to-back finals, go and do something that you enjoy, see a movie with non-law friends, etc. and allow yourself to unwind.

A week is a lifetime to learn the law. If you're way stressed out, go do something else for a bit and clear your head. Then get back to the grind.

You'll be fine.
I can't tell you how much this post helped me, if anything, to stay sane. Got my shit together, busted my balls through the week leading up to the exam, and the difference between sitting down to take a PT and the actual exam was night and day. Whether I got a good grade, who knows, but I can say the good faith effort I put forth was 180. Thanks for the support, guys and gals!

One of them did pretty well. Having my PTs graded in detail really helped me. I might just be super neurotic but I'm glad I enrolled.
