Which makes total sense. 1L is not an environment that fosters positive feedback. You toil away in the dark for months to culminate a singular 4 hour period where everything has to come together. Many weeks the most positive feedback you'll receive is a grudging response to a sufficient cold call answer.meat tornado wrote:I have not gotten one bit of positive feedback since 1L began
There are a couple ways to find recognition and try to gauge how you're progressing. One is to write a really strong first memo, but that will only be a handful of kids -- I wasn't one of them, mine was pretty awful. Another way is to attend TA sessions (if available) and participate. My Civ Pro TA became invaluable as a source of support and/or constructive criticism on my issue spotting/analysis/ect. Another is to participate in a non-class activity; for example, my coach's responses and help on my moot court briefs in the fall were probably the only positive reflection on my writing. Even a study group, while only the opinions of peers and not authority, can be constructive later in the semester. But if you can't do stuff like this, then yes it will be a dearth of feedback that's the structure of the system.
