FWIW,
Torts (9000 words): A-
Contracts (7000 words): A-
Civ Pro (there was a word limit): A-
I think writing a lot helped me in contracts. We all wrote the same amount in Civ Pro and that grade was good, too. So who the hell knows? I tend to think the answer is that writing more is better than writing less, so long as you know what you're talking about.
It's helpful, but not necessary nor sufficient.
