Disregard my last post. I didn't realize OP also stated that watching sports is the opiate of the masses. Given this new information, I would say that you should just carry around an index card that says, "I'm socially inept, please don't try to talk to me" and silently present it to anyone friendly/foolish enough to try to ensnare you in a conversation. Problem solved.

No, but not listening to music at all and listing watching sports as an opiate for the masses (pretty hyperbolic, don't you think) smacks of social ineptness. Additionally, using TLS to figure out how to answer such a benign question as "who is your favorite band" doesnt really speak well to a person who can easily navigate most social situations.

lol, yes it does. Not having the slightest clue what bands are "acceptable" to a broad audience probably means one has been living under a rock. And asking an anonymous law school forum does nothing to dispel that assumption. I mean, there's some pretty huge fucking bands out there (The Beatles? The Rolling Stones?), that are big in both the music world and pop culture. You'd probably have to make an effort/live under a rock to avoid being exposed to these bands at some level.

The sports comment is also pretty bad. You can hate sports, and rail about how sports add nothing to society as you sip on your organic free-trade latte, but the fact is that sports are fucking everywhere. And they're a pretty common interview topic, not to mention a common topic in everyday discussion.
