anything above median and i'll be pretty happy. anything below, and i will be crushed. i can't see being below median for at least two of my classes, but we'll see.

yo - do you know if we get e-mails when our grades are sent in? I feel like our LWR grades should be up soon since we were done like a month ago.

i actually don't know if we get e-mails. they do a good job of not talking about grades at all or how/when we get them.

as for lwr, i don't know if we get them early? it would be nice, and it would make sense if they did come out early, but i think my teacher, and a couple of my friends' teachers, mentioned that the lwr grades would come out around january, which i would presume is when the rest of the grades are released.

Posted this in another thread, but our grades are out. My GPA is 3.861 (3 As, 2 A-). My school doesn't release class rank until January, but here are the previous two years :

Class of 2013 (138 students)*
Top 5% = 3.583
Top 10% = 3.352
Top 15% = 3.241
Top 20% = 3.174
Top Quarter = 3.119
Top Third = 2.954
Top Half = 2.703

*Have completed two semesters of law school; based on Spring 2011 grades
Class of 2012 (117 students)
Top 5% = 3.542
Top 10% = 3.361
Top 15% = 3.291
Top 20% = 3.233
Top Quarter = 3.185
Top Third = 3.103

Last final is on Tuesday. Then the wait begins. The 1Ls last year didn't get their grades until February...I may be the last one waiting ITT

So if a median has to be a B+, they don't have to give anyone a B do they? They could give 12 A's and 35 B+s should they want to do so..

Also, when a school gives out grades based only on a letter, an 86 is just as good as a 89? That seems so unfair if true. I'm just a 1L but I can tell that these curves are extremely tight.

Depends on the school. Some seem to be more specific about the breakdown of grades, where each grade has a minimum and maximum number given out.

Also, when a school gives out grades based only on a letter, an 86 is just as good as a 89? That seems so unfair if true. I'm just a 1L but I can tell that these curves are extremely tight.

Yea most schools with straight median curve just have to give one more total median grade than the rest but profs seem to not go along with that. I guess they don't know the only thing firms care about are grades and the only thing the vast majority of students care about is getting a job. But I think some schools do have a step curve where they have to give a certain percentage of grades along the scale.

86 would be a B whereas 89 would be a B+.

I looked at the bylaws on my schools website and it lists B+ as 86 to 89, and says the median must be a B+. Seems incredibly forgiving.

My class has gotten our ACTUAL grades back in LRW. Our professor then told us that she'll let us know when our actual grades are put on the curve.... It's almost more painful this way.

Seems to be the trend at FSU right now. The other half of my section got their raw LRW grades back too. I also heard that one of the other sections got their Civ Pro grades back.

Yeah I heard about Civ Pro too! So people can see the curve wreak havoc on a 4 credit course.

Got a B+ in Legal Writing and the 2nd highest open memo (the person with the highest beat me by .71 <--- I messed up a cite by not spacing correctly)

I am super excited because I was below the median for the close memo and had no chance at the A after that.
