law preview
Anybody else considering or have info about the Law Preview class at SMU the first week in August?

Re: law preview
I am thinking about it but after reading some of the threads on here about the effectiveness of the Law Preview program, I am having second thoughts.

Re: law preview
yeah i was thinking about it, but i don't have the spare $1000 really. If I did, I probably would, just to ease any worries about it all, and get the potential "leg up," but I don't.
Also, the statistics they cite (median law preview student is top 20%) is probably subject to a huge self-selection bias. The students that are focused and dedicated enough to be willing to sacrifice a week of their summer and pay $1000 for it would probably outperform 75% of their fellow 1Ls, even without the course content.
I probably won't.

I've thought about that myself. There's no way of knowing whether or not the people who went to Law Preview actually benefited from the program or if they were already predisposed to being at the top of their class beforehand.
On the other hand...0L nervousness...

Basically people pay to get "a head start" on law school, and have crash courses in all the 1L courses. There is also one in Houston and one in Austin, I think. There also have been a lot of threads on here about it.

Re: law preview
USC Law recommends them (see: --LinkRemoved--). Law Preview also seems to have the backing of some other pretty impressive law firms and top law schools (http://www.lawpreview.com/scholarships). It looks like if you're going to the "right" school, you can always apply for a law firm to pay your way.
