Since no one made a thread yet for Marquette Law Class of 2014 (entering Fall of 2011), I thought I'd get the party going!!!
Marquette is my #1 and I was soooo excited to get my acceptance package in the mail yesterday. Now, the wait/hope/dream begins for a potential scholarship!!!! I soooo want to attend in the Fall so come oooooon Marquette... help me out h$r$!!!
Anyone out there who has been lurking online like me could join me and introduce themselves!
How about we get the conversation going?

Congrats! I just got my letter today, my third acceptance of the day!
Marquette is a great school, I got to visit in October. I am starting to focus more on Chicago schools now as that is where my husband would like to work.

I went for a class visit (constitutional law) a couple of days ago, and I enjoyed it sooooo much. I would encourage anybody to do the same because it gives you a very realistic idea of what to expect. It allowed me to really think about whether I can see myself seating in that exact spot next year and enjoying it... and I did.
Good luck to you all!
Anybody thinking about ASW on April 2nd???

I'll be there on the 2nd. It sounds like I should schedule a class visit before then as well.

I went for a tour and a class visit on 3/3. The building is fantastic - tons of study space, huge reading room, library with self-checkout, cafe, and free exercise room. There are also plenty of rooms to reserve for group study or project work.
I got to sit in on a property class. Everyone was friendly. The environment was definitely not "Paper Chase", but it was serious. The prof took time to answer my questions after class.
After the class and tour, I met with the Dean Reilly. The meeting was leisurely and not rushed at all. He answered all my questions. He also confirmed what many have said already - appealing for more merit-based aid is essentially a waste of time. While the case could be made that MU should match other offers, an equally strong case can be made that they have more than enough applicants to fill their class under their current system. No one is forcing us to attend law school and market forces play a big role here. (One wonders how the market would work without the stimulative effect of direct-lending federal loans, but that is a whole other topic.)
I liked what I saw and I sent my deposit in this morning. I'm still going to the ASW on the 2nd.

Thanks for the info! I went to an Open House there back in January and fell in love with the building. I plan on sitting in on a class as well as going to ASW on the 2nd...hope to see you all there!!

A last minute scholarship has pretty much sold me on Marquette and I will be at ASW next week! I've never been to Milwaukee... any recommendations for hotels?

I will be there next saturday. I am very excited as well. Personally, I will be staying at the Ambassador Hotel which is literally a few blocks away from the school. Hotels.com offers a 30% discount right now on that hotel (at least they did yesterday).
Looking forward to meeting some classmates as well!

Hello!
Still undecided, but I'm really leaning toward Marquette. Waiting to hear back from a few schools but as of right now, it's pretty likely I'll be making that move to snowy Wisconsin.

I don't think there is a Facebook page. There is an official one for the school, though.

Does anyone know anything about the job prospects for Marquette, meaning are the majority of grads getting high paying jobs in private practice and does marquette have a good reputation in the area? I am not from wisconsin.

Marquette has a great rep in Milwaukee and the whole state of Wisconsin for that matter. I would not expect anything spectacular as far as high paying jobs right after graduation. However, if you plan on staying in the area you should land something decent

I was talking to someone in the admissions office and they said they don't make an official facebook page, it's just up to the students to make one...

Any suggestions for apartment rentals? I am sorely unfamiliar with Milwaukee and am interested in securing housing for 2011/2012 academic year in the relatively near future. What are other members of the 2014 class doing in this regard? Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Hey whats up guys,
Im planning on visiting Marquette this weekend to check it out. Im coming all the way from North Carolina and I know absolutely nothing about Milwaukee. What do yall think about the city? I was initially attracted to Marquette because of the the National Sports Law Institute. Did any of yall check that out and what is that like?
