But there you expect it. The reputation of LA lures you into a false sense of warmth. Lies, all lies.RJ127 wrote:Yeah...i'm not gonna be ready for that nonsense in NYC.birdlaw117 wrote: Don't wanna hear it. I woke up to snow on the ground. WTF?!?!

Coming from CA, I think I am going to actually have to find some kind of battery system for an electric blanket so I can walk around with it wrapped around me at all times.law_monkey wrote:But there you expect it. No it's technically after orientation, so 1Ls have to pay an early move-in fee.mcweanis wrote:Anybody know the dorm move-in date/ first day of orientation?

There's a pretty extensive list building up. A lot of us will be panicking about more than just finals in November.Philip_J_Fry wrote:Not sure how many of us there are, but I'm in...law_monkey wrote: You're a Cali person too? How many of us are there? There DEFINITELY needs to be a meet up.

Just received my dope pizza box, if they could now tell me something--anything really--regarding financial aid I will sacrifice a herd(?) of albino squirrels in their honor. Or send in my deposit, whichever they prefer

I just got back from my laundromat. I'm convinced it's the perfect laundromat. Cheap, large, fast machines. Rarely any people, let alone screaming children. Classical music playing in the background. It's meditative. I think I got a good 80% of my personal statement and other assorted law school essays done there. And that comprised maybe 8-10 hours of laundry during October and November.
I need to find an apartment in New York near a perfect laundromat.

New York is the land of the perfect cheap wash-and-fold (I literally did the math and it cost me 1.50 more per week to get it done for me).ahduth wrote:I just got back from my laundromat. Edit: That said, I do remember some rather idyllic laundromats in Brooklyn.

Sadly, I remember always thinking it was the ONLY part about living in New York that turned out to be cheaper than anything else, anywhere (except maybe the days when all I bought for food was 2 slices of whichever Ray's Pizza was nearby). But still...I'm excited for cheap laundry once again!

I usually lived near Chinatown, so food wound up being pretty cheap too. TIP: Do no eat from the Hot Bar at Space Market (even though it is oh so close and convenient). Seriously. You will regret it.calvmpv wrote:+1whathojeeves wrote:New York is the land of the perfect cheap wash-and-fold (I literally did the math and it cost me 1.50 more per week to get it done for me).ahduth wrote:I just got back from my laundromat. What is this Hot Bar you speak of? Will we regret it because it's so good we won't stop going back or regret it because it's a bad idea (enough said)?whathojeeves wrote:

I'm obsessed with food and can't wait to move up and explore and discover what will be my daily eats in a new neighborhood!

Re: NYU Class of 2014
This is probably only the second laundromat that I haven't hated going to. And it's the first that's truly... relaxing. It's not like I live in an extremely busy neighborhood, but it's still Chicago. The windows are all grown over with ivy, and it's just this little hidden away space. I can't really describe it, the hum of the machines, the classical music, the complete absence of any conversation... it's like walking into a cathedral.whathojeeves wrote:I usually lived near Chinatown, so food wound up being pretty cheap too. Plus because the machines are so good, I'm in and out in 90 minutes.
But yeah, I'll probably do wash and fold or w/e in NYC.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
