From what I've been seeing so far this cycle you should have a decent shot with ED. Probably no real chance RD though.atresia wrote:UVA's my #1 choice and I'm considering EDing ASAP - 3.89/164/summer program at UVA (connection)
Do I have a realistic chance? My GPA's above median, so I guess that helps.

I applied ED yesterday, and currently live abroad in Southeast Asia. It's pretty unlikely that I'll get in, but in the off-chance that I do, do you reckon they'll call me (considering the cost + time difference) or should I just keep refreshing my email inbox?

My fault... getting my dates confused. My own self-imposed ED deadline for UVA was the 15th...AssumptionRequired wrote:Not for UVAkelc213 wrote:Wasn't the ED cut-off date 11/15?atresia wrote:UVA's my #1 choice and I'm considering EDing ASAP - 3.89/164/summer program at UVA (connection)

It's amazing how the UVA thread is already up to page 39. No other school is even close haha

I dont think another school (especially in the T14) does the 15 day acceptance thing. So many who have applied ED will not be finding out for some time stillMcDeere wrote:It's amazing how the UVA thread is already up to page 39. No other school is even close haha

Aside from softball, does anyone know what else is popular to do in Charlottesville? Is anyone on this board into outdoor stuff (hiking/kayaking etc)? I'd imagine there's quite a bit outdoor stuff to do what with the school being so close to the blue rigde mtns.
...if only our football/basketball teams were better. I guess we still have lacrosse though. LAX tailgate anyone? haha

Credited. My UG teams and the pro teams I support are struggling as well. It would be nice if UVA could pick up the slack.pjo wrote:...if only our football/basketball teams were better.
To answer your initial question, hiking/biking is really big in the Cville area as I understand it.

Yeah, my Steelers seem to always blow it mid-way through the season... why is my happiness so tied to pro/college teams, ugh. I'm glad hiking is popular, I'm hoping I'll be able to get out and hike on a few Saturdays, even just for a little stress relief.

Of all the things we have done so far, the 1L tubing trip down the James River might have been my favorite. The sheer beverage quantity consumed on that river was astounding.pjo wrote:Aside from softball, does anyone know what else is popular to do in Charlottesville? This place is fun. A LOT of fun. We drink, we party, we play softball. But, during the week, and during school hours the people here are as serious about their studies as students at any other T10 school. It's the balance that people can strike between their personal and professional lives that sets UVA apart.AssumptionRequired wrote:Haha love it. "Work hard, play hard." That about sums it up, and last year I did plenty of both at UVA. It's a good school for that.jawsthegreat wrote:This place is fun. A LOT of fun. Do you miss the Biltmore, three, or White Spot, now that you are at Harvard?vanwinkle wrote:"Work hard, play hard." That about sums it up, and last year I did plenty of both at UVA. Love to hike and kayak. During my undergrad years at JMU discovered some pretty awesome trails and swimming holes in that area, looking forward to discovering more . .

Fortunately a good football team is not necessary for a good tailgatepjo wrote:Aside from softball, does anyone know what else is popular to do in Charlottesville? Plenty of hiking and biking in C'Ville though. You are literally a 10 minute drive from being in pretty gorgeous countryside at any given point in town. You have to drive a bit to get to bodies of water, but tubing on the James river as mentioned is a pretty fun thing to do.

The UVA baseball team deserves a little love. They spent about half of last season ranked #1 in the country.pjo wrote:...if only our football/basketball teams were better. I guess we still have lacrosse though. LAX tailgate anyone? haha
