So, in the financial aid letter, the scholarship amount is purely merit? Anyone have any luck getting this increased ever? Tips?
Also, I've heard UChi doesn't do need-based aid, is this true?

Chicago doesn't do strictly need or merit based aid. Their aid a combination of both factors (if you filled out need access - otherwise it's just merit).
Chicago should up their aid to californians. I need to buy a whole new wardrobe. Born and raised in socal, and am in nyc this week. If Chicago is even half as windy as it was here this weekend, I'm in deep deep trouble.

Checking in. Got a decent scholarship from Chicago, so they're at the top of the list right now, pending HSY decisions. I'm also from a perpetually warm and sunny place. Will Chicago winters ruin me? Can't I just walk around in a really warm bathrobe and a snuggie?
Also, I'm liking this talk of drinking and board games. In fact, I'm pro-revelries of all sorts.

All due respect to Portillo's, but Hot Doug's is TCRgbpackerbacker wrote:

Apart from the snowpocalypse/blizzard, winter has been way tamer than I anticipated.ExpectLess wrote:Checking in. Just booked my flight! I'm getting in early Thursday to explore before the welcome reception (if the schedule is like last years). Very excited!

Thanks for all the pictures! Loved them. I'd also really like to see the main campus pictures if it's not too much trouble to post them. The Stig wrote:I also have a bunch from the main campus that I can upload if you guys want.

(And congrats on the financial aid! Enough to make you come to Chi with me??)

the inside looks super nice.
the outside looks like a prison.

Love the pictures! I'd love to hear more about the whole day. I can't wait for ASW to see it all (and meet some of you!).
I agree it looks like a prison, but it's a happy prison...right?
Congrats on the fin aid! All these $ emails are making me hopeful and fearful at the same time.

Awesome pics of the school!
I wanted to ask if any of you knew how we go about negotiating if we go our initial offers. Specifically, does anyone know who we email? I highly doubt I can leverage my Michigan $ into much, but it's worth a try.

I think it looks like a prison from the future (as the future was envisioned in the 1960s). I imagine guards with taser sticks, jet packs, and star trekish jump suits.glitched wrote:the inside looks super nice.

I've been to prison (with attorneys, not as a prisoner lol) and I can tell you that it looks NOTHING like a prison.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
Now there's a charge.
