That would be an absolute disaster.jt1341 wrote:Does anyone else who is married (which i plan on being rigth before law school) even get apartments with others? Does this just not happen?

Re: UVA Class of 2014
This was discussed somewhere in another thread. The concensus was that doing this would be a really bad idea. I mean, you would be newly married... sharing a relatively small place with someone of the opposite sex who is not your spouse probably won't go over too well one way or another. Regardless, $750/mo is cheap as is. I definitely commend your frugality though

Re: UVA Class of 2014
I'll elaborate a little more.
I was pretty much engaged although w/o the ring yet and had a lease in a house with two other guys a few years ago. My soon to be fiancee was moving back to be with me, but didn't really have the money at the time to get her own place so she just moved in with me for a few months until the lease was up. It was a nightmare and really strained are relationship/delayed the actual engagement. We broke up about a week after moving out.
Ultimately, it was probably for the best because there were some underlying compatibility issues that would have come up later.
I'll probably be engaged to my current gf before the fall and will get a one bedroom plus study or two bedroom for us.

This is what i will probably do. I would love to find a 1 bedroom plus study for under 700 a month, but i am assuming that will nto happen. I would need more then just a 1 bedroom as i am not one for the library but dont want to have only one bedroom with my gf trying to sleep while im studying or anything else that will lead to distractions.Stringer Bell wrote:I'll elaborate a little more.

Haha yea that might be difficult. I do not know many people in Cville and then you never know if you will get along. Main goal: 1 bedroom with seperate study or loft for somewhere below 700. is that possible there?YCrevolution wrote:Find a gay/lesbian roommate?pjo wrote:This was discussed somewhere in another thread. Re: UVA Class of 2014
I know you will never believe me, but uva was not really my first choice. I just wanted to get in to a T14 asap and figured I had my best chances at UVA.
I have 2 other lower T14 schools that I like better than UVA..now I'll just have to wait and see if I get in.
I'm actually glad I got waitlisted to UVA. Now I have no obligation to attend (if I get off the waitlist) and I won't need to be surrounded by you nasty people for 3 years!

That's some fine Ivy league cognitive dissonance.masterthearts wrote:I know you will never believe me, but uva was not really my first choice. I just wanted to get in to a T14 asap and figured I had my best chances at UVA.

I completely understand. LOL at getting a JD from a state school!! Here's to hoping you get Penn or Cornell so you can pimp your ivy law degree too!!masterthearts wrote:I know you will never believe me, but uva was not really my first choice. I'll now test out the hypothesis that an Ivy degree can save you from being banned.

Re: UVA Class of 2014
Ill be at UVA next year
super excited. Back to rooming......
Does anyone else who is married (which i plan on being rigth before law school) even get apartments with others? I was thinking about finding a 1 bedroom, or even a 2 bedroom for 750 a month (super cheap) for just me and my girlfriend. Would it be weird to have a roomate while living with your gf/wife?

I'm getting married in august next year. Hopefully my fiance will be moving to cville (please please please UVA). I feel like having an additional roomate would probably be miserable. You're going to be newly married, not to mention newly a law student, so that's twice the stress. Adding another person into your daily home life would be more stress than worth saving a few hundred bucks a month or so.
Forgive the horrible grammar and quoting I'm on my phone...

Agree with the sentiment regarding roommates. I too will be married before beginning law school and I know it would not be a good thing for us to share an apartment. Plus, my fiancee would probably kill me for even thinking about it.

Haha yea mine probably would also. I am thinking i'm lookin at about 750 a month because I don't think it would work without an extra room or study for me to study at. I just thought cville would be much cheaper

Cheaper than 750 for a 2 bedroom? Dang, those are some standards!jt1341 wrote:sherpaorlawschool wrote:Agree with the sentiment regarding roommates. Well, he is coming from Texas so yeah I can see why that would be considered expensive. I grew up there and can attest to the fact that cost of living is amazingly low. However, I'm coming from California so 750 a month sounds fantastic to me right now.arism87 wrote:Cheaper than 750 for a 2 bedroom? Yeah I pay more than that for my shithole in Baltimore, and I consider Baltimore cheap! I'll be super excited if I end up in Cville again. No roommates for me though, I'd sooner work the corner at night to pay my bills than do that again... (I swear I like people, i just really like my space too! lol)sherpaorlawschool wrote:Well, he is coming from Texas so yeah I can see why that would be considered expensive.
