Does anyone know when they are gonna be moving to Dallas? I'm still waiting on my fiancee to find a job before we nail any dates down. Btw, if anyone currently knows of any full time positions open to recent college grads with a communications degree, pm me.

Re: SMU 2014
Boyfriend and I are headed down from Chicago July 28-30. I am apartment hunting next week when I come down for the ASD for evening people.
Tell your fiancé to check with a recruiter or temp-to-perm company. They always have openings and if she hates the initial assignment, she can bail. My sister found her career that way, started as a temp then they kept her. I think she used OfficeTeam.

+1 to the late July people. Going to try to get settled in by the 6th of August so I can make it to Tech's summer grad ceremony on the 8th of August -- bestie is graduating (finally -- he's on the van wilder plan! it's his 7th year of undergrad!)

Depending on the season, you could do it. In the summer and winter it could be rough though.Gecko of Doom wrote:My fiancée and I are planning on moving at the beginning of July. Question for current students or anyone else who may know about apartments: is it reasonably possible to bike from the Village to campus? It might be nice to be able to cut down on car use.

Is anyone else a Spurs fan? Or am I doomed to be surrounded by delusional Mavericks for the next 3 years?

It's theoretically doable but I wouldn't want to. You have to cross 75 not to mention from August til about mid october you'd sweat your ass off by the time you got to school.Gecko of Doom wrote:My fiancée and I are planning on moving at the beginning of July.

That would be a pretty easy ride - crossing 75 isn't really a problem as you could just cross over on Southwestern. The only problem, as others have said, is that you'd be sweating like crazy in the summerGecko of Doom wrote:My fiancée and I are planning on moving at the beginning of July.

Re: SMU 2014
You'll cut down on car use, but you'll also have to buy the parking pass anyways, and the law parking garage is going to be super convenient. Half the reason I'd want to bike is that I'd like to not have to worry about parking, which doesn't seem like it'd be an issue. I'll probably bring my bike and do it on the nice days though, its a nice area, and it'd probably only take 15-20 minutes or so to get to campus.Burgstaller04 wrote:Depending on the season, you could do it. You're not alone! I did my undergrad in SA It's nice to root for a team who doesn't get kicked out of the play-offs in the first round every year.Burgstaller04 wrote:Is anyone else a Spurs fan? Or am I doomed to be surrounded by delusional Mavericks for the next 3 years?

Hate the Mavs, so I guess that makes me somewhat of a Spurs fan, right?

I'm a rockets "fan" (don't really do basketball), but I root for the Spurs just because Mavs fans really amuse me with all the bitterness towards them.Burgstaller04 wrote:Is anyone else a Spurs fan? Or am I doomed to be surrounded by delusional Mavericks for the next 3 years?

Re: SMU 2014
Okay, I got my @smu.edu email today, so I'm stoked that I'm official now!
But now I have a problem. It's super small and really stupid, but it will probably bug me for forever: the display name on the email is "Last, First M.". Is there any way we can change that to show "First M. Last" or something? I tried editing it, but that was an un-editable field.
Anyone?

I got my letter today, and noticed/tried to change the exact same thing. No luck. I think we're stuck with it.swilson215 wrote:Okay, I got my @smu.edu email today, so I'm stoked that I'm official now!

Ugh, I know it's SO minor, but it's just one of those things I'm not going to be able to get over. Hahaha. Glad someone else shares my OCD tendencies.Burgstaller04 wrote:
