Re: Vanderbilt Class of 2014
Seat deposit sent in! I'm excited to be in Nashville this fall! A friend of mine and I are looking for a 2/2 within walking distance to campus (no more than 1-1.5 miles away). Not looking to spend more than 800 (each) tops....any ideas if this is possible?

Re: Vanderbilt Class of 2014
Hey everyone! I was going to live at the Bristol with a couple of 2l's but I think I am decided on the Americana. (I want my own place for the first year)
Yes, it's ugly. but, I figured I could stomach it for a year and then find a nicer place.
I live in a pretty nice apartment now, so going lower might hurt.....but I am just so scared of the debt. Plus I dont think I will be bringing my car, since I would have to drive it back and forth......
you guys are making the americana seem pretty scary do yall think I made a huge mistake?
ps yep orientation is third week , see ya then for our "class"

I was thinking of doing the Americana too. My college apartment was pretty fugly so I think I can deal. My other options are Twenty&Grand, The Stahlman, 1700 Midtown, or one of the Groves--but I really want to save money.crossingforHYS wrote:Hey everyone! Btw....they had 3 one bedrooms left when I called. Just a heads up. and if you are a student your third year they will let you out of your lease early so you can leave when you graduate without worrying about subletting.
Hope this helps.
twenty and grand only had one one bedroom left and it was 1300...so I passed

I'm planning on moving up pretty early so I can be all settled and used to Nashville before classes. What is the exact date of orientation starting?

I haven't been able to find the 2011-2012 calendar yet, but based on last year's, I'm assuming orientation will start Aug. 15.akili wrote:I'm planning on moving up pretty early so I can be all settled and used to Nashville before classes. What is the exact date of orientation starting?
I'm moving down around Aug. 1-2 to give myself maximum time to unpack and adjust.

I sent in my seat deposit a few days ago and tomorrow I'm sending in a deposit for an apartment. I'm still kind of feeling overwhelmed with making everything official, but I'm getting really excited now that I know where I'll be in the fall.

I'll be living on 16th, it's about a mile away and I'll still probably walk to school. It's a small complex that doesn't really have a name, but my brother lives in one of their two bedroom townhouses and he hooked me up. Rent is only $600 per month, so I couldn't turn it down. I can't wait to meet everyone!Magnolia wrote:Yay! Where are you living?Lou9 wrote:I sent in my seat deposit a few days ago and tomorrow I'm sending in a deposit for an apartment. That's a sweet deal!
I'm getting really stoked for the fall (equal parts excited and terrified).

Man, I thought we would gain some numbers at the deposit deadline!
Still really stoked for next year! Question for yall: Is it weird to put a Vanderbilt Law sticker on my car now? Or at all? Should I stick to just a plain Vandy sticker? (I LOVE car stickers and mine need to be updated desperately)

Re: car stickers. I don't think it's weird if you put one on now. It's like updating your facebook. I'd like to get one that I can put on the back window instead of on the bumper. If I do get one, I definitely want it to be for the law school and not Vandy in general, but I'm not sure if that's possible. I couldn't find anything law school-specific on the bookstore website. Has anyone else been able to find anything?

I actually did find one that's Vanderbilt law when I was there! I think I'm going to put it on my back window as well. Haha, I am so excited about merchandise because my UG had none. Also, yay for attending a school people have heard of!Magnolia wrote:Me too! Yea, I was contemplating putting the sticker on my car but I really want a window decal not a bumper sticker.
Akili were you able to find any other Vandy Law merchandise on campus? I wasn't able to visit, and I can't find any shirts or sweatshirts on the website. I figure once orientation starts some of the student organizations will be selling merchandise, but I want a shirt now!

My undergrad was a fairly large D1 school, but hardly anyone knows where it is. Though when I told my boss I was going to Vanderbilt he said, "Oh, you're gonna head east." I'm from northern Ohio, so no, I'm not heading east.

Is anyone else getting an error message when they try to set up their VUnet ID or am I doing something wrong?

I KNOW all my info is correct so I'm really confused.
