Sorry, just saw this.whitman wrote:1Ls, what do y'all think so far?
Really, I have only good things to say about Duke. The people here are incredibly bright but surprisingly down-to-earth. I've already met a good group of friends who share my interests and offbeat sense of humor, and I'd say that there's definitely a diverse group of personality types, backgrounds, interests, and goals represented at Duke. There are a few gunners and a few weirdos, but that's probably true anywhere you go.
Classes are demanding, but my professors are awesome. And the workload really isn't that bad if you budget your time accordingly and don't mess around. There's still plenty of time for working out, bowling, bar review, etc. Though I can tell that LARW (which is graded) is probably not gonna be much fun as the semester progresses.
Also, the building itself is awesome. The comfortable chairs and abundance of natural light are surprisingly helpful when you're stuck in the library for hours every day.
uhh... what else. Oh, parking for first-year students is a bitch. Like, really bad. I guess that's my one complaint. But the food in the business school (next door) is incredible. And it's nice to have only 3 substantive classes (as opposed to 4).
In general, the weather is great. And Durham is much better than its reputation; there's a lot of great restaurants here, a decent selection of bars, and Durham Bulls games are always a good time.
If you have any other questions, feel free to PM me or post in this thread. Sorry if this is a little too stream-of-conscious-y; distracted by football.

Dude, there are a surprising (or not surprising?) number of people on TLS. Mostly lurkers, though. I gotta start watching what I say on here...TheFactor wrote:To the guy who wrote the following on the whiteboard in 3043 today:

Also, I definitely voted for that guy. Even though he didn't have cookies.

I totally thought TLS when I saw that on the board too. I will now spend the next few months trying to figure out who everyone is. You guys DO realize that meme originates from South Park, right? It is common to the internet. The guy is not necessarily a TLSer.
Just sayin'.

Random question about Duke women's basketball: do law students have to pay to go to the games? Could I just show up at game time? Is it any where near as popular as the men's team?

Hey, looking to transfer from UVA to Duke. I'm not too thrilled by things here. What is your class like? Are people actually fun? Gunners? Hot ladies? Haha, mostly joking about that... Basically, do people get along within sections? how separated are the sections from each other? Do you actually see people in other sections? Thanks for any help you can give me, blue devils.

Last year it was during exams. Consider leaving it in your folder until exams finish.
