Re: Columbia Law Class of 2014
Anyone going to be moving from Chicago to NYC? I'm looking for one or two people to split the cost of a UHaul truck and gas. If we have three people total, I think we can get ourselves and our shit to Columbia for like $500 each.

Does anyone know anything about the building 423 West 120th (like apt quality/size/streetlife)? Anyone else get assigned there?

I don't know anything about the building itself, but that is a pretty good location. There is a decent market right there where you can get the basics and good sandwiches. Also that block south of 120th on amsterdam towards the law school is pretty nice with a pharmacy, a dry cleaners, and some decent food options. A few blocks north on Amsterdam are some good restaurants as well.ela7117 wrote:Does anyone know anything about the building 423 West 120th (like apt quality/size/streetlife)? Bumping for embarrassing lack of traffic. How are my future classmates? Anyone else get housing up in the 125th area? Anyone else living in a small town now excited to live in THE City? discuss

I'm at 424 119th and getting very excited about the fall. I'll throw myself into that "small town" bunch. Though Columbus, Ohio, probably doesn't technically quality for that label, it certainly feels that way relative to NYC. Also went to UG in a small college town surrounded by corn fields, so this will be a big adjustment. Right now I'm planning to move in around the 8th and taking part in the Community Service Day on the 12th.kwais wrote:Bumping for embarrassing lack of traffic. How are my future classmates? Any chance anyone is coming from or will be traveling through the central Ohio area and have an interest in sharing a U-Haul?

Yay thread revival! I grew up and went to college in small towns, so I'm pretty scared/excited to be in NY. I won't get to move in til the 11th, so I'm not sure if I'll be back on my feet from the jetlag and red-eye flight in time to do Community Service day. You make me feel like a bad person, Miamiman. First thing you do when you go to law school is community service? You are ruining Columbia's corporate biglaw image.

yeah, the community service day is like gunner test #1. Jk, I think I might do it too. It will be a good way to meet people. June and July are going to fly by, can't wait!

Well crap! I guess I should try to hide my gunner identity a little better in the futurekwais wrote:yeah, the community service day is like gunner test #1. Jk, I think I might do it too. It will be a good way to meet people. June and July are going to fly by, can't wait!

Nonetheless, it sounds like a good way to see a little more of the area around Columbia and get to meet some other CLSers before Orientation. Gotta start hunting down the best study group members, right?

I go back and forth as to whether TLS members would make a good study group. Either they are the ones with the initiative to be scouring the internet for Law School info or they are the ones who will be glued to the internet when its time to study. hmmmmiamiman09 wrote:Well crap! One of my friends is freaking out because she can't pay her housing deposit/first month's rent just yet after being assigned but admissions isn't responding or whatever Columbia's housing is called. Anyone got an idea of what to do? I pity how pricey the housing you guys have is.

not sure if it's been mentioned yet, but just an fyi - i think the lack of thread traffic probably has to do with lots of people using the facebook group instead of TLS. If you're not on it yet, come join "Columbia Law School - Class of 2014"!

Has anyone here gotten accepted off the reserve list? IF yes, how were you notified? Snail mail? email?
Thanks
