On that note, has anyone been successful in matching FB accounts with usernames? I think I have only managed to guess like 3 or 4 of them.

Two Goals for Law School-
1. Get a job.
2. Write a paper/mock trial on why Nicolas Cage should not have gone to jail in Con Air.

I will most likely be flying. The last road trip borderline destroyed my car.

So what kind of activities are you guys planning on participating in? I know that I want to be on Law Review, but I do not know if I will get accepted, of course. However, if I do not, I was thinking of doing moot court or mock trial. What do you guys want to do?

Jdem, I'd love to do any of those... But I think I'd enjoy mock trial the most.

I think I would enjoy that most too. But one thing I read said that some/most firms look down on mock participation because it teaches things you dont want to do in real life. Like in Mock you get points for making objections, but in the real world you shouldn't make every objection, only ones that matter. And thus it teaches bad form, which becomes habit. So... I need to talk to some people in Winston about that, since that is where I want to work.

I would recommend staying both nights. I did last year and I made great friends on the 2nd night. A lot of people left that evening, so there was only a small group of us left, and we went out to dinner and out to a few bars and had a ball.YankeesFan wrote:So Im trying to figure out house hunt and I cannot figure out if I should stay for one or two nights. Re: Wake Forest University School of Law 2014
During 1L year, the Trial Team tryouts are in the fall and spring, Moot Court is done the end of March and into April, and the write-on competition to be on a journal is done right after exams. Therefore, you won't know whether you'll make it onto a journal until after you try out for the others. However, you can try out for Moot Court your 2L year as well (in the fall). They take 20 1L's for Moot Court (the top 16 during the competition, and 4 honorable mentions), and I'm not sure how many during 2L year. (I'm not sure about trying out for Trial Team during 2L year, but I think so.)jdemmitt wrote:So what kind of activities are you guys planning on participating in? For the journals, here is the breakdown:
Law Review: Top 10% automatically get invited based solely on grades, and another 10% gets invited based on the write-on competition (2/3 of score comes from the write-on, and 1/3 from grades). So approximately 36 incoming 2L's make it onto law review.
Journal of Business and Intellectual Property: I've heard top 20% automatically get invited, and more are invited from write-on competition.
Journal of Law and Policy: All invited based on write-on competition (and optional personal statement).

I want to do Journal of Law and Policy. I have no interest in mock trial or moot court. The mando 1L trial stuff
is going to kill me.
