Mine is the same, scholarship shows under financial aid but not under mailings. It's been like that for about three weeks now I think. I had to email admissions about a few things and asked about the scholarship offer while I was at it. They said that they had awarded me one but they sometimes don't get mailed out straight away. Three weeks seems like a long time to send a letter but I guess it's nothing to worry aboutagora139 wrote:hi guys! my scholarship offer showed up about a week ago in the 'mail and money' part of the admitted students website, but i don't see any planned mailings about offer details or stipulations, only a 'curriculum brochure' and a 'faculty bio brochure'. anyone know when i can expect it?

I think Dean Z does this with all of the acceptances, though some are more personalized than others. Pat yourself on the back if it's something more significant than "we'd love to have you here."alawgirl wrote:Finally got my admit packet with scholarship letter on the way!
Is it standard practice for Michigan to hand-write a note at the end of the acceptance letter? I know they did that when they sent out the prospective student packet.

I think so.. Mine said something like "Your personal statement was outstanding"InvictusFortis wrote:I got, "Your writing was outstanding!"sgtgrumbles wrote:I think Dean Z does this with all of the acceptances, though some are more personalized than others. I had, "We were very impressed by x and y." And maybe she underlined some word like "very" in the standard text of the letter.InvictusFortis wrote:I got, "Your writing was outstanding!"sgtgrumbles wrote:I think Dean Z does this with all of the acceptances, though some are more personalized than others. Re: Michigan Class of 2014
The school's buses run late but only go around campus and to the parking lots (which require a pass). The city buses which we ride for free with ID stop early. After that some convoluted system of shared taxi rides and such goes into effect.yoitsmebenny wrote:Wait, U-M doesn't have any late night buses?blowhard wrote:Just remember, the bus stops running at 10pm on Thursday-Friday and like 5 or 6 pm on Saturday. So, if you plan on doing any of the nighttime activities, you're taking a cab back.Helmholtz wrote:FWIW, the northbound 36 bus actually stops right in front of the west entrance to Hutchins Hall, not even a block away. The southbound stop is roughly half a block away. The 36 line is the best one to be able to take to the law school. There are buses usually hitting each stop every 9-12 minutes unlike some of the other lines that do it every 30/60 minutes.ramhands wrote:FWIW -- I've been PMing with grumbles, but there's a bunch of hotels/motels/inns on State street across from the Briarwood mall. Red Roof Inn, Courtyard by Marriott, etc. There's a bus stop for the 36 that's about a 5 minute walk from any of those. That bus goes right up State street and has a stop about a block away from the law school. It's 1.50 a ride (I think... will have to doublecheck that) and considering ASD will probably keep you busy all day, all you'll need to worry about is catching a bus to campus in the morning and then catching that same route back in the evening. There are plenty of restaurants/shops on campus that will keep you busy if you ever need to kill time before/during/after ASD, so staying off campus and busing could/should be a pretty viable option for those who don't want to/can't drop $$$ on the accommodations closer to campus.
Downtown is small enough everyone walks around. A taxi ride home anywhere in AA is <$10.

Now I wish she would have wrote, "Your application was decent, at best. But, you have the quantiative measures that will help us retake #8; welcome to UM!"somewhere wrote:I had, "We were very impressed by x and y." Is it weird that this would have been another point in the Michigan column for me? Hilarious.InvictusFortis wrote: Now I wish she would have wrote, "Your application was decent, at best. But, you have the quantiative measures that will help us retake #8; welcome to UM!"

lol I liked the little note even if everyone gets it and the fact that they kept their word about giving scholarships to people in ED. I was offered a pretty good job and decided to actually go to UM instead of taking the job because of that.

I can use several adjectives to describe her but for the sake of simplicity I'll keep it simple. She is A-M-A-Z-I-N-G.wildcathighfive wrote:she may have been creeped out by pics so i refrained from that, but she is just the friendliest.TheStrand wrote:details and pics please =) can't wait for her to be in NYCwildcathighfive wrote:post reception update: talking to dean z in person was THE COOLEST THING.

Mine was kind of disappointing compared to others. Mine said "we really hope you join us"agora139 wrote:i really liked the note! mine was something about my unique and well developed interests (which is pretty much all i have goin for me in this whole process besides #s) which made me feel like they actually paid attention to my application beyond my numbers. michigan keeps winning points in every way
Not to complain, the hand-written addition still made UMich stand out among others. I <3 you Michigan.
