That would be awesome. It would make my decision to defer a lot easier. I want to get on with my life but I love living like an undergraduate right now and don't know if I'm ready to end that. I've been changing my mind almost daily. I think I'm going to do an ED and if accepted decide. If I get declined and can't get in any other good schools then I'll apply for the next cycle.plenipotentiary wrote:No problem.Nonok wrote:Thanks again, that was very helpful.
I don't think getting a deferral should be an issue. They've been overenrolled for the last few cycles, and I heard that last year they were actually offering people scholarship money if they agreed to defer.

Yes you need to pay both deposits. You also have to sign a form saying that you will not apply to any other school in your year off (basically works like ED). But since you are already doing ED (right?) you are not interested in other schools to begin with.Nonok wrote:Thanks! I searched and found that you need to get the deferral request in by the second deposit deadline (June 15, 2010). I'm assuming I have to pay both deposits if I decide to defer. Correct me if I'm wrong.Apple Tree wrote:I requested to be deferred by one year. It was granted very quickly, and I get to keep my scholarship.

Well, I am not completely sold yet, but I'm working on it. I'm reading this thread: UVA 2L taking questions and like what I'm hearing so far. My #1 consideration is having some good job offers. UVA is probably the best school I can get in to and I don't mind paying sticker if need be.Apple Tree wrote:Yes you need to pay both deposits. What's been everyone's experiences in getting the confirmation email? I submitted two weeks ago, haven't heard a pep. This normal? (I am not applying ED.)

For those who were dinged that might still be reading this post... how were you informed? I want to get off my other apps if I am dinged and want to do it soon! It's been 9 days and I see that's the typical length for people rejected on LSN.

If I were you, I would sent out my apps ASAP, before the October LSAT scores come out.brose wrote:For those who were dinged that might still be reading this post... how were you informed? You can still send out your other apps. You just have to withdraw them if you get accepted to UVA.brose wrote:For those who were dinged that might still be reading this post... how were you informed? Why would you wait? send them off? or are you trying not to waste money on apps if its unnecessary?brose wrote:For those who were dinged that might still be reading this post... how were you informed? Any reverse splitters get accepted ED?
I'm talking around 3.9 gpa from an ivy, urm and lower lsat (160).
Anyone with roughly these stats get in ED at UVA?

Sent in my ED agreement form just now. Wish me luck. I will probably need it! Two months of wavering back and forth to end up on the same decision I had originally settled on.

It's only one more application and it's also binding early decision (Colorado). I'm still going back and forth as to if I should do it so I guess not hearing back is a blessing in disguise.jt1341 wrote:Why would you wait? send them off? or are you trying not to waste money on apps if its unnecessary?brose wrote:For those who were dinged that might still be reading this post... how were you informed? I got my ED acceptance (10/18) with a 161/4.0 and I'm not at an Ivy school, nor am I a URM. You should definitely have hope!!!!! =)

Congrats! Got my confirmation of receipt of my ED form yesterday (applied WAY earlier) and have yet to hear anything. What was the longest some of you guys had to wait for your ED acceptance?maroonzoon wrote:Congrats to everyone here. Sent in app yesterday, got a call today. Honestly probably not. They seem to be very formulaic. Unfortunately you are just barely under the GPA median. Can u get it above a 3.85? and a 165 is well below the LSAT median.iwanta170 wrote:Does anyone think I have a shot getting in ED with a 3.84 and 165? I'm a VA resident

Re: UVA Class of 2014
I emailed a law student at uva (a urm, since I am also a urm). He seemed to feel that uva is NOT formulaic and takes a holistic approach. He said PS and recs are VERY important and felt uva is more forgiving with a lower lsat score for those who apply ED. I don't know, maybe he was talking from his own personal experience. I don't know this guy, but he heads one of the urm clubs and his email was listed. So, I decided to email him.
That said, I plan to ED with a 3.87 gpa from an ivy, 163 lsat score (just got the score last night), very strong personal statement highlighting my reason to become a lawyer in the face of adversity and bilingual Spanish/Eng. abilities.
Hope I get in.

Similar stats except lower in one respect and I was accepted ED. I'd say you have a good chance.masterthearts wrote:Any reverse splitters get accepted ED?

Your GPA is above median and you are URM, you will get in ED. You wont get in RD. Its very formulaic, sorry to burst your buddies bubble. Good thing is you are on the + side of their formulaic approach.masterthearts wrote:I emailed a law student at uva (a urm, since I am also a urm).
