I have neither your number nor your email address. I'd use Mafia but that appears to be dead.Ghost wrote:Set a date and time for maf chat or just creep on my gmail. Also, I love that you use this thread to send messages instead of emailing or texting. That's a pretty shameful way to bump your post count.incompetentia wrote:Ghost, I just watched the last 4 episodes of Six Feet Under back to back.

Don't fall for his maternal "you never call me anymore" guilt. He has tried it on me too.incompetentia wrote:I have neither your number nor your email address. Hey for people who did the Electronic Master Promissory Note, have you heard from U of C yet as far as when you would get your loans? If so, I have not yet seen in the reference form could that possibly be whats holding me up?

They sent out award letters like a month ago. You should probably call/email Karla ASAP.thedude221 wrote:Hey for people who did the Electronic Master Promissory Note, have you heard from U of C yet as far as when you would get your loans? I have a feeling I won't ever actually start reading GTM until September 18. Even though it's been sitting in my house for, oh, 2 months. Argh.

I'm telling myself it will sink in better this fall because I'll be able to contextualize it. Yeah, that's the ticket...Xifeng wrote:I have a feeling I won't ever actually start reading GTM until September 18. Even though it's been sitting in my house for, oh, 2 months. Argh.

Cool! When are you moving in? I'm headed to Chicago around the 20th (will be arriving with my SO in the dorkiest car ever made.... and one I can't drive, since I can't drive stick). Have you thought about furniture yet? Here are some ideas my SO and I have been compiling for anyone who's interested:Xifeng wrote:Just booked the hotel for my mom & I for move-in weekendYAY
(1) Furniture Outlet: It's basically a retailer for three companies: Ashley (ashleyfurniture.com), Home Elegance (homelagance.com) and Coaster Furniture (coasterfurniture.com), so you can order anything out of their catalogs and they could have it delivered to you. They also have a warehouse, so you can go and check out what they have in store.
(2). Roy's Home Furnishings (roysfurniturecompany.com). They're said to have a very large selection at reasonable prices.
(3). Nadeau (furniturewithasoul.com). A furniture wholesaler with good reviews, but it's hard to tell what they have from the website, so you'd have to pay them a visit.
(4). Dania (daniafurniture.com). The furniture looks to be reasonably priced.
(5). Room and Board (roomandboard.com). It's a bit too expensive, but maybe one can get a discount on floor model or something.
(6) There's also the used furniture option. Craigslist works, and there are various thrift stores. Here's a website (http://www.squidoo.com/chicagothriftstores) listing the various thrift stores in the Chicago area (it even suggests certain driving/walking routes to follow to visit all the thrift stores in a given neighborhood). Another site that provides both local listings of furniture and also a list of sales and events is Apartment Therapy (http://www.apartmenttherapy.com/chicago). You could also buy tickets to the Randolph Street Market on August 27-28 (http://www.randolphstreetmarket.com/ran ... index.html). There may be some nice things there.

I won't be getting there until early September
and I have to start from scratch furniture-wise, so I'm definitely going to IKEA for at least the bigger items. Super exciting, I know haha
