Just to be clear, we need to send a copy of our immunization record or the immunization form, right? We don't necessarily need to send both?

You can either have your doctor fill out the medical record part of the form, or you can just fill out the personal part of the form and attach your records to it.soupisgood wrote:Just to be clear, we need to send a copy of our immunization record or the immunization form, right? Re: Chicago Class of 2014
Should we have a suit before beginning school? I don't have one, and I was hoping to put off that search until later in the year / fall quarter. I have a winter coat from NYC winters. It's a very insulated 3/4 length Patagonia. I'm considering eventually purchasing the ankle-length version, though, and really frumping it up for the sake of warmth. I was an undergrad at Chicago, and I still get chills remembering those winters. Luckily I'll be living close to the school - about a 5min walk or so.
Also, my dog will be able to come with me (yay!). I'm going to have to look into winter wear for him too. As it is, in NYC, he wears a sweater underneath a winter jacket when it gets cold. Hopefully Cip will be able to meet everyone else's dogs when school starts!

The July Letter says we'll need a suit for the Entering Students' Dinner.

There will probably be a lot of good department store sales on Labor Day, so you should def wait until then if you can. Also, make sure you take whatever you buy to a reputable tailor and get it fitted. Makes a world of difference on off the rack suits.Lisi wrote:Thanks. Yeah, I just got 2 suits taken in today. I try to buy them on sale so that the tailoring equals out to a regular price suit. I'm faaaar too lazy to take in anything with lining on my own.trudat15 wrote:There will probably be a lot of good department store sales on Labor Day, so you should def wait until then if you can. That's a good idea (waiting for Labor Day sales). I'll be in Chicago at that point (I'm moving around August 15th). I was going to just go to J-Crew, but I think I should definitely check out department store sales. Are you all buying spring/summer suits (i.e. not wool)? I guess I'm going to need suits for winter and summer in the coming year or so, so maybe it doesn't matter which one I buy now.

I would suggest wool suits, as I imagine you'd be using the more conservative suits for interviews.Lisi wrote:That's a good idea (waiting for Labor Day sales). FYI, the Nordstorms Anniversary sale is going on right now until Aug 1. Some good suits to be had for discount. I think additional discounts apply if you open a Nordstroms card.

Maybe try asking in the current students' questions thread since all of them live in and know their way around Chicago and we don't (yet!)newtopic111 wrote:Can anyone recommend a good tailor for women in Chi?

At the risk of sounding like a total nerd, are any of you doing any kind of prep work for the fall? I have no background in things law related -- well, outside of a course, Economic Analysis of Law, that I took years ago in undergrad. I've read Getting to Maybe recently, but the rest of the prep work suggested by some at TLS seems a bit obsessive - either that or I'm not motivated to do it when more than half the posters here say it's not worth it. Anyone else coming in pretty much blind? And if not, what are you doing?
