Thanks that was helpful!d34dluk3 wrote:I was across the street looking at a condo the other day. The location is pretty great - next to one of the two main shopping and dining areas in Hyde Park. It's on the bus route as well, so that shouldn't be a problem.reversejinx wrote:Has anyone lived in, or been to, Blackstone Villa (located at 5514 S. Blackstone Ave.)? Any idea how the neighborhood is? And how is the walk to the law school (especially through the winter months)? It's campus owned, and they're asking for about $850 a month. Thoughts?
Can't speak to the apartment at all though.

Hi, I was accepted off the WL, and will be attending. So, I just thought I'd say hello. Looking forward to it!

Two questions:Lisi wrote:Hi, I was accepted off the WL, and will be attending. So, I just thought I'd say hello. Looking forward to it!
1) Is that your dog in your tar?
2) Is it coming to Chicago?
Also, welcome!!!

Thanks for the welcome! Yes, he's mine. He will be coming to Chicago if my boyfriend can get out of his lease (which doesn't allow pets). If he can't, I'll have to have him stay with family for a year before we can move to a place that allows pets. I really really really hope I can keep him with me. I've taken him everywhere I've lived (even Spain), so I can't imagine life without him!JFo wrote:Two questions:Lisi wrote:Hi, I was accepted off the WL, and will be attending. Quick question-I was admitted with a 3.96 gpa but since then its got down some and by the end of summer semester will probably be around .15-.2 lower than at the time of acceptance. I applied ED, can they unaccept me now?

Are you kidding? I can't imagine they could do that based on a few GPA points. If they did, they'd look like a school that only cares about the numbers. I don't think that's the reputation they're going for...thedude221 wrote:Quick question-I was admitted with a 3.96 gpa but since then its got down some and by the end of summer semester will probably be around .15-.2 lower than at the time of acceptance. Also, they report your LSAC GPA, not your final transcript GPA. This is why schools aren't particularly picky about people updating their LSAC GPA after their cycleLisi wrote:Are you kidding? I've heard something along these lines as well. If your GPA goes down, then they dont ask you to update your LSAC (and thus, them), and they can report your 3.96. Dont know how true it is.d34dluk3 wrote:Also, they report your LSAC GPA, not your final transcript GPA. I cant imagine that a lot of ppl's GPAs went down second semester senior year though. I think mine went down by .2 in one semester alone (my first c and b- in college).

Virginia caught a lot of flak because they specifically instructed their students NOT to update their transcript if their grades had dropped.trudat15 wrote:I've heard something along these lines as well. Possibly the wrong forum for this (probably)... but does anyone have any extra Lollapalooza tickets for Saturday? Or for the Local Natives aftershow? I'm having trouble wading through the spam on craigslist.
ALSO - the July letter mentioned that there was a problem with the student profiles, but I didn't have an overt issue - how do we know if it worked? Sorry if I missed this above

Re: Chicago Class of 2014
I haven't been to this site in a while, so I apologize in advance if this has already been discussed in the thread, but re the health insurance waiver, is anyone buying additional insurance for the medical evacuation/repatriation requirement?
This req seems pretty absurd -- and I wish there was a way around it. As I do wish to keep my current insurance, I'll have to purchase a supplement it seems. To those in my situation, what are you doing about it?
Also, I'll definitely be at the new grad dorms in the fall
. Who else will be there?

Hey guys! Just got back from vacation and finding an apartment!
The JFo dogs were very happy to see me, and I got some new pictures. It might be possible for them to be posted, if you guys still like cute pet pictures.

If you have a normal carrier (blue cross with normal 80:20 is mine) they dont care and stamp you through. Too bad the jazz skipped Jimmer. At least Hayward isn't a bust.sojuteacher wrote:I haven't been to this site in a while, so I apologize in advance if this has already been discussed in the thread, but re the health insurance waiver, is anyone buying additional insurance for the medical evacuation/repatriation requirement?

Re: Chicago Class of 2014
I bought my first suit!
Now I just have to wait for it to come and hope that it fits. I went to our biggest mall a week ago and tried every store, but apparently people around here don't wear suits (?!). I've also gotten a mattress and a desk and a coat. I still need a bed to put the mattress on. Buying things is fun, but I think it might be more wholesome if I had a job.
