You should try the Green Zone. It's super convenient and never gets full.
thanks!

Yep. But all the 1Ls have to park in the Green Zone unless you carpool with someone.

And I'm looking forward to having classes with Bob Ross. I think everyone's a winner here.

Just got in off the wl. Not sure whether to attend or not. I am deposited at Umich right now. I have about the same amount of $ at both. Can any one give me any info that will help me decide?

Also I am worried about finding someplace to live. I'd want a roommate(s) to save cost, but I'd need to find one and a place in the next 2 weeks before I head to europe for a month. Any one have any resources to find one (or need a roommate ha)?

I was trying to decide between Duke and UMich as well. I ultimately went with Duke. I think you should go with what feels right (I know, not too helpful). Have you visited both places? I knew that Duke was the place for me after visiting both. UMich is a great school, but I think both campuses have specific environments that you might be more partial to.

In regards to housing, someone posted a list on this thread a couple of weeks or so ago. As far as I know, the big complexes for 1Ls are Pinnacle Ridge and Alexan Garrett.

feel free to pm me if you want to talk more!

Just booked a place at West Village in downtown Durham. Anyone else thinking about getting a downtown apartment?

I'm not going to duke law but spent 4 years in durham for undergrad so i'd be glad to answer any questions you guys have about housing.....

West Village is very nice and not too expensive and is in an ideal location for nightlife. Parking in the complex may not be quite as convenient as it is in other places, though.

For those of you who'd like to live in a location where walking to the law school is feasible, Erwin Terrace, The Lofts, and The Belmont are the best options (the first two being a bit nicer than the latter - The Lofts is relatively expensive but is definitely the elite of Durham apt options in all respects).

Hey guys, do you know of any places within walking distance of Duke? Other than Trinity Commons, that is. Thanks!

Does it seem to be the general case that even students picked off the WL have gotten some $ at Duke? That is an impression I've gotten on TLS and I'm wondering if it's just me daydreaming or if this is actually true?

Check lsn. Dean Hoye said they specifically have money to give waitlist applicants. They planned to actively use the waitlist this year to make sure they hit their target class size after over enrolling last year. I think it depends on your numbers still, there is money there but you still need numbers for it. I told them I had a ~40% scholarship at mich and they gave me 40%. They seem to be admitting splitters to sure up their newly acquired 170 median.

Congrats to the waitlisters who got in. Last year was really nasty for waitlisters across the entire t14. I don't think one WL got it to Duke last year, but I could be wrong on that.

Also, you must join the bowling league. :-P

Well, I'm here at Alexan Garrett and am really loving the area so far. Got everything with the living situation (and with Duke) worked out, so now I can enjoy the summer/possibly get a little work done.

Just as a reminder, the immunization form is due by the end of the month. Also, parking permits are now on sale and the insurance enrollment/waiver is now available online.

Hope to see you all around. I'll be the one drinking by the pool.

Edit: Also, the direct deposit form for student account refunds (in case you missed it): https://finance.duke.edu/resources/forms/DDR_Auth.pdf

Hey all. I didn't end up matriculating to Duke but I'm teaching summer courses on East Campus until August and wondered if any of you are already on site and would be down for drinks in Durham in the near future. In fact I'll be at Satisfaction's tonight enjoying the $4 32 oz beers.

Sure, I'd love to get your overall impressions of your first year. How was it? How were the professors, students, classes, workload? Any advice? How are things looking for the upcoming OCI? Thanks a lot.

Basically +1 to all this, but also, how do basketball tickets work for law students?

Does anyone know when we get assigned to sections? Do we find out our course schedule once we are assigned to sections?

I know I should be able to find this online, but I am too technologically incompetent to make that happen.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
