I'm going to look into this next time I'm in Tallahassee (possibly by starting at the law school and walking till I run into a complex that isn't a Phoenix one). Or maybe I can find one of the people I talked to after ASD on facebook and ask one of them. I'll post if I find anything new.EricBerry wrote:I never found anything else within walking distance except the phoenix properties. Any suggestions?

Definitely let me know if you find anything. The only other property I could find was a block north of florida towers but it didn't look like much of an improvement.amarkonthedoor wrote:I'm going to look into this next time I'm in Tallahassee (possibly by starting at the law school and walking till I run into a complex that isn't a Phoenix one). Anyone know if August 7th would be too late to move down if I'm trying to establish residency for next year?

I'm moving into collegewood/phoenix etc. too. Definitely will move out after the first year. I'm figuring there will be a lot of us over there when everything is said and done. It will suck to see the coeds in their bikinis on my way to and from class..only because I can't join them.

You have to establish residency for a full 12 months before the first day of classes... so if you hit the ground running you could probably do it.EricBerry wrote:Definitely let me know if you find anything. Haha, I meant that if you know what you need to do before you move here, then it should be fine. Florida requires a boatload of documentation to get a drivers license, so make sure to look up all what you need. I do all of my billing online (go paperless), and they wouldn't accept, for example, an online printout of my address from my Suntrust account (you need two pieces of paper proving you live at your current address, like bills in the mail, etc). You just can't dick around, basically!EricBerry wrote:LOL that doesn't make me feel any better.minuit wrote:You have to establish residency for a full 12 months before the first day of classes... so if you hit the ground running you could probably do it.
As for telling you other apartment complexes in the area that are not Phoenix owned, there are probably only a couple... so that's really not very helpful to tell you not to live there

Oh housing. I'm still waiting on UF but have done some homework on Tally housing. Anyone have any success with roommate referral? I'm coming from an out of state UG and don't know anyone outside of UG and was considering signing up to see what happens.

I hear you. After looking over the requirements, it looks like the hard part will be finding a document other than my lease to prove residency. I'm thinking a utility hook up receipt might be my best bet.minuit wrote:EricBerry wrote:Haha, I meant that if you know what you need to do before you move here, then it should be fine. I'm looking at moving down in late July. Better to have too much time than not enough.
Has anyone heard anything about a complex called Georgetown?

A utility hook up bill would work just fine. Problem for me was the utilties were in my roommate's name, tooEricBerry wrote:I hear you. Scholarship info came through yesterday and I don't think I'm going to be able to turn in down regardless of what UF (eventually) tells me. I'm stoked though -- even though I'll be further from my SO I think Tally is better suited for me. So I quickly glanced through the thread to look at info on roommates. Are people using the referral site?

I think I'm doing the no roommate for 1L/potentially rooming with someone I meet during 1L for 2L & 3L route. I'm not sure what the majority does, though...I'm sure the allure of saving money beats out the desire for more personal space pretty often, so it just comes down to what's important to you.Bill Cosby wrote:Do most people have a roommate for 1L?minuit wrote:A utility hook up bill would work just fine. That's what I'd like to do, but I've been trying to figure out costs and it looks pretty impossible.amarkonthedoor wrote:I think I'm doing the no roommate for 1L/potentially rooming with someone I meet during 1L for 2L & 3L route. I also was also looking at 1BRs, but it's pretty tough to find one for less than $900 with utilities. If anybody is looking for a roommate for a 2br/2ba or 3/3, send me a PM. I'd be cool with a house, apartment, or townhouse. The roommate referral website doesn't seem to get much attention.

Re: Florida State Class of 2014
Hi Everyone,
I was admitted on the 6th and I am incredibly excited. From everything that I’ve seen Tallahassee looks like it will be a blast, and I’m sure the incoming class will be great as well. I’m planning on visiting sometime in June to look at housing and I would appreciate any suggestions in regard to what places are good quality and value. If any of you are also going to be in the area around that time, and want to meet up for lunch or grab a drink, let me know.
I’m looking forward to eventually meeting all of you.

For those of you looking for housing, I have townhouses for rent.
A 2/2.5 in The Lakes, very close to the stadium with a large garage
A 3/2.5 in The Timbers
A 3/3 in University Green (only a couple years old, gated community with club house and pool, nice/quiet neighborhood)
call 954-557-6246 or pm me if you're interested

I tried the referral site. I did the whole username deal but they haven't gotten back to me. I know there's a facebook group too. I'm just really reluctant to get to deep into housing without having heard from the other school. haha.Skipper2014 wrote:Scholarship info came through yesterday and I don't think I'm going to be able to turn in down regardless of what UF (eventually) tells me. Sorry, haven't been on in a while. Had some killer crawfish from Tony's, in BR the past weekend. Yes, I currently live in Tally. I am going the roommate route, but my roommate is my wife! lol And, I'm always down to go get a beer.ssj752 wrote:I believe that I was sitting across from you. Directly to the left of the Lobbyist.
Glad to see you decided to attend FSU.
Assuming you have a facebook, feel free to add me. Johnny Guevara.
Same goes for any of my future classmates.
You said you live in Tallahassee currently? I will be up fairly soon and periodically throughout the summer. We should get a beer or something.
Look forward to seeing you guys/gals on campus. Or sooner.
