Since they're making a super aggressive move to up their LSAT median, I'm really curious how this will affect their GPA median. It seems like they're giving a lot of money to people with kinda low GPAs. Thoughts?

My guess is they're going to fill the rest of the class with all high GPA's. They have a wide range in their 25th and 75 median LSAT and GPA, so I figure that will continue.

I think 166 75th percentile median is not out of the question.

I would think they would fill out the class with high GPAs, although that may not be a priority. I know my GPA is not going to help, but hey, I guess they know what they are doing.

Well a lot of people with over a 168 LSAT will probably get good offers from other schools that could make a good amount choose those schools over IU-B. IUIC and WUSTL will more then likely be offering many of the same applicants that have the IU-B full rides some sort of scholarship thats comparable and will probably end up choosing those schools over IU-B. The non-splitters might end up getting offers at some T-14 schools. A 170 will put you into play at a lot better schools then IU-B , so really I think the class will be full with a bunch of 166-168 LSAT scores with some higher LSAT scores that are debt averse. I think when it is all said and done they wont have a problem with over enrollment.

Does anybody know if there is a list to find a roommate for the fall? Being that I live so far away I want to look at apartments while in Bloomington for SLD and would prefer to live with someone else to keep costs down.

I live way too far away and am too broke to be taking a ton of trips out to Bloomington, even to secure housing. Plus, I hear things fill up quickly there. I was hoping to look at some places when I fly out there for SLD. I was planning on going back maybe once after March to get everything together. They should set up a roommate list asap.

Opened the mail about an hour ago and got the $120,000 one. Because of how many schollies they are giving out and the enormous size of them, I am officially christening this (and the $105,000 and $90,000 versions as well) the Mother Of All Scholarships (MOAS).

Really pumped that my now-favorite donor, "Mickey" Maurer, has made it possible for so many people to attend a top 30 lawl school nearly stress-free for the next three years. I think Indiana @ $120k will steal a lot of debt-averse splitters from smaller scholarships (and nearly all of them are significantly smaller) at WUSTL and more than a few from paying sticker price at Northwestern.

Up, up, and away for the medians and rankings. Not that we care. We'll all be drunk and rolling around in the roomfuls of money that we will never have to borrow.

Does any one somehow know when a good time to start looking for apartments is? I heard the same thing that housing fills up quickly but Craigslist did not seem to have a lot goin on yet.

I've seen fully furnished housing for around $550 to swanky, NY style apartments north of $2000. This link has been pretty helpful in helping me to begin a serious search for a place. Now all I need is a roomie!

So I plan on going to visit soon (April) and after I'm 95% sure I'll be accepting. Is anyone else planning on summer start? Since they are willing to pay for it and my job is up in June anyhow (substitute teacher) I'll be starting then. Which means I'll be moving down in late June after a short vacation. Just wondering who else may be around.

I may try to swing it, but frankly I dont think I will have the money to even come up with half. I may just use those funds to get myself established in the fall. But it would be nice to sort of get used to taking classes when you only have 1 to worry about instead of a full schedule.

Yeah that's kind of what I'm thinking too. I graduated in December and getting my brain warmed up again would be nice. Plus I'd like to get comfortable on campus before it's too busy. I've never lived anywhere but home so it will be a big transition and I'm a bit anxious.

The school does a good job of providing a wide breadth of information about student living in Bloomington during Spring Law Day. In fact, you're likely to be annoyed by just how many options they present you. At any rate, if you can wait until SLD then the school will do all of the hard work for you; they'll compile mounds of brochures, pamphlets, and other information about nearly every available student spot in Bloomington. The range of living options in Bloomington is truly amazing. You will have literally every option absent a houseboat available to you: urban style lofts, single family houses, multifamily houses, apartment complexes, etc. You'll also have time during Spring Law Day to go on guided tours of housing options lead by 2Ls and/or 3Ls. Or, you can use that time to investigate only the places that you find particularly attractive and skip the tour.

I will caution that most folks here have already signed leases for next year. But, you will be able to find a nice place to live for an affordable rate even if you wait until the summer to sign.

tl;dr version: don't sweat housing yet- the school will do all of the hard work for you and you have plenty of time.

Don't be dissuaded from a program like Summer Start based solely on the information provided on TLS. While I did not do summer start I know plenty of people who did and found it to be a beneficial experience. Be sure to consider the potential biases of folks posting on this and other boards. I would encourage you to explore the option with administration, talk in person to summer start students during Spring Law Day, and make a decision based on your situation.

Oh thats awesome. Its cool that IUB is going to do the legwork for us and then show us certain places to check out. I LOVE house hunting, but its certainly not as fun and somewhat intimidating from 600 miles away.

Ahhh good to know House hunting online is not easy. I think I'll stay an extra few days come SLD and check out options. Hopefully sign a lease. Only problem is that coming down in June instead of August will limit me a bit but oh well.

I'm leaning towards doing summer start. Hoping to get more info and a non-TLS perspective at SLD before I make a final decision. Mine is paid for minus books, but I need to buy a new laptop before I start and will need to secure financial aid to fund that purchase. I'm hoping it will all come together though. I like the idea of getting a head start!

Yeah books and rent are the only things. My macs a couple years old but still fine and working for law school so I don't think I'll be getting a new computer. With summer start would aid go through earlier for living costs? Id imagine it would just like with UG. I'm going to check it out at Spring Day as well. I doubt one class would make me burn me out throughout the year. Obviously law school isn't undergrad but I worked 50 hrs a week and went to school year round and didn't experience burn out so I think I'll manage.
