If I heard from one Journal today, is it still possible that I will hear from another?

I think so. Pretty sure it's possible to get offers from both secondary journals.

Probably just secondary journals, SMU LR should be pretty full by now.

About 40% of the class, roughly, across all journals.

Specifically, though, for SMULR, do you happen to know the number? Sorry, I'm an incoming student and just trying to figure out how difficult it is.

The write-on competition information packet we received in the spring says:

* 150-175 students participate in the competition
* 45-50 new students join SMU LR
* 45-50 new students join ILRA
* 20-30 new students join STLR

once we've chosen a journal, are we supposed to change our schedules? I remember seeing the journals on the class lists...

No. You don't need to change anything.

Although it's not necessary to change anything, don't we need to add one of the journal selections to claim credit hours in the upcoming semester?

Since I have already registered for 11 hours as a PT student, adding additional hours from a journal would push me into the full-time bracket. To claim journal credit and remain under 12 hours, I'll have to rearrange course selections.

No. You don't need to rearrange anything. If you're a 2L, you get 5 total credit hours to use any way you see fit, but you can only use up to 3 of them the first year you are on journal (or it might be only 2, I can't remember; regardless, you can't use all of them).

To claim LR credit hours, just email Kim Grace with your student ID and tell her how many you would like to use.

No adding / dropping required.

I didn't use any 2L, registered for 11 credit hours this fall, am using 3 LR hours, and will use the final 2 in the spring. Hello, easier 3L.

Okay, I was assuming any journal credit would be included my course load.

So I can still register for 11 hours via normal classes, add an amount of journal credit, but remain as part-time?

No, it counts as credit hours, just not towards your GPA. So you'd want to stay, total hours, below the limit for you as a PT student. But you don't have to use them this semester. You can wait and use them in the spring, or next year.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
Just kidding ... it's still FREE!
