Re: CU - Boulder class of 2014
Hey all,
Sorry I'm a few days late but it was great meeting you all at ASD, i'll try to do more posting and less lurking now. I had a great time and am seriously considering CU, I think it will be a game time decision for me. You all have only confirmed my impression that CU will be an awesome place to spend 3 years.
I also went to the Rockies game on Saturday, with the couchsurfer I was staying with of course. Turns out he was in his final year at Denver Law, was from 30 mins away from my hometown and went to the same summer camp as me (small world). It was a great experience. From what I gathered from him Denver Law students are having a real tough time finding jobs. He was top 10% on Law Review and had nothing yet, although he was looking for more international work.
Am I the only one not 100% set on CU?
Again great to meet you all. I'll keep you guys posted on my decision.

At this point, I am attending whichever is cheaper between Colorado and Washington, but Washington hasn't released scholarship info yet so I still don't know!

hey devildaze!!! good to see ya!
and i do NOT think you're the only one who isn't 100%....i'd say most of us are not (with the exception of me for sure, bananeez, eminem...and that's all from our little meetup i think)...
keep us posted! it's a tough decision for sure...but with the quality of your future CU classmates, how can ya go wrong?

Lurker (haha apparently that's your nickname here?) I'm not 100% either. I'm not even 100% on law school, so I'm having a mid-twenties crisis and trying to figure out if I want to go to LS now or later or never and if I do do I want to go to CU or what!
I'm thinking about trying to spend the weekend in Glenwood Springs at the hot springs and hiking Hanging Lake to put it all in perspective... Either way, I <3333 CO!

I feel the same way. I don't know what I would do if I DON'T go, and the career seems like a good fit.krad wrote:Lurker (haha apparently that's your nickname here?) I'm not 100% either. but then there is "do I want $90k in debt from CU or $41k from STCL?" and moving and all of that stuff.
ugh. i wish i could be 100% about ANYTHING right now career-decisions-wise.

Yeahhhhh. The thing is that I'm at a well-paying job (even though after 3 yrs I'm over this company) in an area that I really like, so the debt factor is huge for me as well as the future opportunities... so we'll see!upfish wrote:I feel the same way. Re: CU - Boulder class of 2014
Its nice to hear other people are struggling with the same decisions I am. I too am not 100% on going to law school, but I don't have a suitable fall back option. My concern is that I'll spend all this money and not be happy in law, similar to how I feel about the industry of my undergrad degree. However, the nice thing about law is that there is so many different directions with a JD, so I hope its just a matter of finding one that I can enjoy for the rest of my life.
I'm also not 100% on CU. If they would increase my scholarship to make the final 3 year debt closer to my other options I would go there in a heartbeat. I haven't had any luck with negotiating though... So it will likely be a game time decision for me too.

Yeah, I feel you. I'm dropping $300 on seat deposits at CU and STCL just to give myself more time to decide.
And I'm taking another trip to Boulder/Denver with my SO to see if he likes it.
It's all pretty confusing, and incredibly expensive.

$100! But the second one of $200 is due in May, so they just flip CU's amounts basically.

Haha I can see why it did! No worries, I got excited for all of the .0004 seconds it took to read the email. It could be worse, other schools that I was looking at were ~$800 or so.upfish wrote:Whoops! Sorry, guys. My brain must've just erased that horrible news.

This is totally how I feel too. I have a management undergrad degree and I don't know whether or not to take a corporate job just to gather some more money for law school or not, because the debt is super intimidating. I am trying to decide between schools too. I haven't had scholarship negotiation luck yet either.ptblazer wrote:Its nice to hear other people are struggling with the same decisions I am.
