Okay, I just booked my flight! Going to the first ASW. I deciding to take the red eye, so stay away from me on Thursday. Leaving on Sunday. Also booked the Michigan Flyer - figured it was most reliable option.whathojeeves wrote:I'm taking a red eye, as for me it's worth being able to work all day Weds. If you do it let me know maybe we can rideshare in from DTW?sarahh wrote:Is there anyone going to ASW from the west coast? It seems like the options are to leave Wednesday during the day and pay for a hotel the extra night or take the red eye Wednesday night and arrive Thursday morning. I don't want to have to spend the extra money, but I know I won't sleep on the plane and will probably be very tired and cranky on Thursday if I take the red eye.

Has anyone submitted all the necessary financial aid information. If my parents are divorced do I have to submit both my mom and dad's tax return or just my mom who claimed me when I was a dependent? On the ASW it simply says FAFSA, NeedAccess, my tax return and parents' tax return.

You do on NeedAccess. I am sure they will ask for the tax forms later too, to verify NeedAccess.ziggie wrote:I don't think they need your parents' financial inforbarcelo9 wrote:Has anyone submitted all the necessary financial aid information. That's taken directly from Michigan's website. I would love to exclude this info, because my parents aren't paying for my school.

It doesn't matter if they will pay or not, it is "expected" contribution. They feel that a part of your education should be financed by your sources. Your parents' resources/assets are yours unless you are estranged and out of the will. If that is the case then you can not provide the info.rbarcelo9 wrote: "We have not received any of your need-based finacial aid documentation. Gotcha. So I guess I have to include both parents. Good-bye to any need based money. Hello loans.r6_philly wrote:It doesn't matter if they will pay or not, it is "expected" contribution. BTW it's Michigan, you get all loans anyway lol I had no income and dependents and got all loans last year (after the merit money). I have more dependents now, so we will see. But I expect all loans. I don't have to provide parents (they don't have anything anyway).rbarcelo9 wrote: Gotcha. So I guess I have to include both parents. Good-bye to any need based money. Hello loans.

I haven't filled out my financial aid forms yet, r6 is probably right, I just remember reading somewhere on the website that they don't take the parent info into account when providing financial aid

r6 are you in LS already or are you applying this cycle? I always assumed the latter, but I feel like you're always answering questions about shit that would suggest your cycle is already over.r6_philly wrote:BTW it's Michigan, you get all loans anyway lol I had no income and dependents and got all loans last year (after the merit money). Well at least they are asking. I knew I was fucked on that little short questionnaire when they asked for my parents address lol.rbarcelo9 wrote:"We have not received any of your need-based finacial aid documentation. Re: Michigan Class of 2014
I actually emailed the financial aid office about this, and received the following answer from Zack Burwell "no, we don't need, or take into consideration your parent's tax returns."rbarcelo9 wrote: "We have not received any of your need-based finacial aid documentation. I had asked what I should do if I don't have my parents' information or tax returns. Also, at that point I had already sent in my Need Access and FAFSA something like two weeks before emailing them, and it hadn't shown up on the website. They confirmed receipt of both of those things, but my ASW stil says "We have not received any of your..." So I guess don't expect that to update?
