Re: Chicago Class of 2014
hi all! i thought i would drop by and introduce myself since i will also be joining you at chicago in the fall, and judging by this thread there are quite a few of us on TLS!
i was accepted to the class of 2013 (hence all the posts from last application cycle) and deferred. I live in NYC and will be moving to Chi with fiance and cat in tow.

Sorry if this has already been covered, but has anyone set up their chicago.edu email addresses yet? Also, when is everyone thinking of moving to Hyde Park? For those of you coming during the summer, Chicago has fun street festivals practically every weekend: --LinkRemoved--

Gahthelaw, you will fit in well here. PM me if you'd like the pet policies of any apartments near campus.
Moar pics plz.
Re: The book club. I'd be all for it, though I don't think anyone will want to read the books I like to read. The Believers book looks interesting, though.

I've also heard that Colum McCann's book, Let the Great World Spin is quite good.
And, despite being an English teacher, I have sadly never read any of Toni Morrison's books, so I'd be interested in that.
Finally, I've already read this one, but if you haven't read The Believers by Zoe Heller, you should. It's really great. Here's an NPR piece about it: http://www.npr.org/templates/story/stor ... =127295636
Any other suggestions?
Edit: Oh, and if you haven't read The Hunger Games series, you totally should. The series is geared toward teens, but all three books are really fun reads (though the first one is the best by far).
Bossypants was, not surprisingly, excellent. I'm reading Eating Animals by Jonathan Safran Foer now. I love books and am trying to read all the fun books I can between now and September!

You're lucky I wasn't here when you posted this to yell at you to get off TLS. Also you should have instituted a 1 day self-ban.Xifeng wrote:I def want to read Bossypants this summer. And DEFINITELY READ THE HUNGER GAMES!! I was reading those during Chi ASW and those books are impossible to put down!

Ugh, I really should do the due diligence of looking for a good place other than Regents, but laziness has an extreme hold on me. I'd rather loaf.

Maybe a skeptical hippo would be more appropriate, actually.

Wasn't I going to pay you to help design and decorate my apartment. Would you consider expanding your responsibilities to "all shit I don't want to do that you happen to think is fun"?
Edit: Note to self: try to find a girl to marry who thinks all the shit I don't want to do/don't care about is fun to do by herself...

Re: Chicago Class of 2014
There are people who don't think apartment hunting is fun???
Next you'll tell me there are people who don't like cooking.
