Re: Chicago Class of 2014
The part about the stafford promisory note and entrance counseling is relevant to my interests.Ghost wrote:Halp.
So, as I understand it we fill out the GLA with all the loans we need.
By this Friday we also do the promissory note and entrance counseling for Stafford loans only.
And then we wait until June to do GradPlus. Are we not supposed to list GradPlus loans until June (in the GLApp bc oops if so)? I'm assuming we do Entrance Counseling and the Note in June.

I don't think the entrance counseling matters -- that is, you can do it whenever. I also don't think that it matters whether you list GradPlus loans in the GLApp; in fact, you probably should.Ghost wrote:Halp.

What you aren't supposed to do is actually apply for the GradPlus loans through the government until June 15th, because that initiates a credit check which is good for 90 days. If you get to any part of an application that mentions a credit check (I imagine they're very straightforward about it), then get out of it.

I don't know how or why but I did 2 different entrance counseling sessions. One was at a .gov, and the other was at some other site that I think I was linked to at the Graduate Student Loan Application site.

Did the same thing, but I don't really care because it's over, at least until June.rbarcelo9 wrote:I don't know how or why but I did 2 different entrance counseling sessions. Also, I have this awesome picture, but I can't figure out what is the best meme text to add to it. Opinions? I am choosing between "Zero fucks given" and "Haters gonna hate".

I vote zero fucks, because:
1) I feel the stroll is integral to haters gonna hate.
2) He looks more purely happy than self-satisfied.

Re: Chicago Class of 2014
I don't know if this would be a good book clubby book, but I'm interested in reading Tina Fey's new book, Bossypants (bet you didn't see that one coming...).Dany wrote:NO. Suggestions for ones to read???afcanoe wrote:Would it be totally dorky for us to start a summer TLS book club?
I've also heard that Colum McCann's book, Let the Great World Spin is quite good.
And, despite being an English teacher, I have sadly never read any of Toni Morrison's books, so I'd be interested in that.
Finally, I've already read this one, but if you haven't read The Believers by Zoe Heller, you should. It's really great. Here's an NPR piece about it: http://www.npr.org/templates/story/stor ... =127295636
Any other suggestions?
Edit: Oh, and if you haven't read The Hunger Games series, you totally should. The series is geared toward teens, but all three books are really fun reads (though the first one is the best by far).
