I knew this would happen ala the fletchers. I know one person was sick, but I bet they are swamped with essays this year.

10k more a year.
I'd just be happy to get my total debt under 100k for LS.

Honestly, I have already sat out for 2 years and don't really feel like sitting out yet another one. Maybe I would for full-tuition, but that's about all I would consider.
Anyway, anybody have any guesses on when we will hear about the Smith/Shaver?? I really thought it would be out by now.

I sat out for two years too but if the price is right I'll do it.
I'm hoping Smith/Shaver comes out today. Not like I have a snowball chance in hell

Yeah me too but I also thought UNC would have acknowledged my existence by nowMattThiessen wrote:Honestly, I have already sat out for 2 years and don't really feel like sitting out yet another one. Maybe I would for full-tuition, but that's about all I would consider.

None of us are worthy of being acknowledged by UNC! And if UNC does acknowledge us, it is only to tell us that we are not worthy to even visit the school!boom_cs wrote:Yeah me too but I also thought UNC would have acknowledged my existence by now

I was acknowledged. Acknowledged that my application lacked sufficient merit to be granted entrance to their ivory tower of learning lest people refuse admittance.

Re: Wake Forest University School of Law 2014
i'm probably the only person who applied to wake and didnt apply to UNC.
I didn't like their application process, and I didn't like their campus. Also, small classes was a HUGE selling point for me... at this point, the only thing that could pull me away from wake is a winning lottery ticket (aka admission to Cornell).. I'm still waiting to hear from Vandy, too... but I don't think they'd be able to talk me out of wfu. I really love the school...

I think UNC admissions office takes half the apps and throws them in the fire and says they don't like admitting unlucky people

My WF status still says application complete after admission and $$.
Guess no schools like updating statuses after decisions have been sent.

You know what I just heard today? Melanie Nutt is retiring! I'm happy that we're in the last class she admitted, she's one of the reasons I ultimately chose Wake. The way she and her staff run the admissions process is so down to earth and personal that it made me feel like Wake is truly a great place to spend 3 years of my life. It was a welcome change from how other schools do things (cought UNC cough). It's really too bad we won't see her in the fall!

Do you expect the WF degree to be portable or is NC your end game?

mildly portable. If NY or DC called I would jump in a heartbeat, but I would be just as content in Charlotte (minus the 160k, unless your at Moore & Van Allen.)boom_cs wrote:Do you expect the WF degree to be portable or is NC your end game?

I expect that it's portable. A lot of it is what you put into finding work... I want to end up in DC, and I have enough connections there that I think any T1 school would suffice.boom_cs wrote:Do you expect the WF degree to be portable or is NC your end game?
Regardless, Wake has a solid undergrad reputation on the East coast, which I think may help their grad students to some degree.

If that's true, I just looked it up in a COL comparison and to make a similar salary in NYC, you would need to make $370k+ to match $160k in Charlotte.

Moore & Van Allen pay $160k in Charlotte? I really thought Charlotte maxed out at $135k.
