Looking at budget stuff... I feel sick.

So I looked at housing stuff instead! I know a couple people were talking about studios a while back, and I found a neat room divider that I think might be the one they used in the Algonquin studio setup (and it's pretty cheap at $229):

The more I think about it, the more I think I'll go with a studio for 1L. I just really want to make sure I'm not stressed out with a bad living situation, and I figure it's worth the extra $3000 or so (I'm just ballparking that it will be $250 more a month to live alone) to make sure I'm happy during the time I'll be needing to get the best grades of my life. I'm sure I'll go back and forth on this a few more times, but that's my thinking at the moment!

I'm flip-flopping as well on first year living. I want to do regents, but there is such a huge differrence between a 1BR and 2BR.

are you talking about price or size (or both)?

Has anybody thought about/looked at Drexel Terrace? It looks pretty close to campus and is a lot cheaper than Regents for a 1BR.

The Immigrant Child Advocacy clinic is awesome, but you need to speak a second language to be eligible to work in that clinic. I think all the clinics sound interesting, and they are doing really good work. I'm hoping to get on to the IJ Clinic for Entrepreneurship, which helps people from economically disadvantaged communities who are trying to start small businesses.

Yeah, that's one of the reasons I'm interested in it, I speak Spanish fluently, well that, and immigration law.

Yeah, that's one of the reasons I'm interested in it, I speak Spanish fluently, well that, and immigration law.

I think a lot of the work they do is with Asian kids, but I know they look for Spanish speakers as well. It would be an amazing experience. They represent kids as guardian ad litem in a range of proceedings.

Chiming in, as it looks like Chicago will likely be where I end up this fall (waiting for scholarship details [if I'm lucky!] and ASWs at Mich & Chicago to finalize the decision).

As for clinics, the Immigrant Child Advocacy project caught my eye too since I'm really interested in immigration. Hoping my Spanish hasn't gotten too rusty, as I doubt my other languages will be of much use

I don't know much, sorry. I think you can only take that clinic as a 3L because you can't appear in Federal Court until your 3L year. I think it is one of the few clinical programs of any law school that allows students to represent defendants in Federal Court though.
