Re: Indiana Bloomington - Class of 2014
For people still looking for housing check out out Campus Walk. I just got a place at Beau Trace which is just behind Poolside and really close to the law school. I actually got to see the unit I will be living in and was quite happy with it for the price. Their website is http://www.crerentals.com/index.php.

When are my fellow summer starters heading to Bloomington? I'm looking to book my flight this week.
Also, is anyone else beginning to freak out about not having a place to live?

Late June or July 1st. And yes, my impending homelessness is of great concern, LOLQbinson wrote:When are my fellow summer starters heading to Bloomington? I'm looking to book my flight this week.

If you look on the side of the website, you can see everyone who has already committed under the see the class link. Looks like the class is right under 200 students with a committed deadline coming up soon.

Yeah, I am kind of surprised about that. 10 out of the 200 went to Michigan.danquayle wrote:Lots of non-AA Michigan repping.beidoun wrote:If you look on the side of the website, you can see everyone who has already committed under the see the class link. Has anyone accessed OneStart yet?
I went into OneStart and it says I do not have access to email. Is anyone having a similar problem?

There's usually a bit more from UM-AA actually. But not usually that many from UM-Dearborn and UM-Flint.beidoun wrote:Yeah, I am kind of surprised about that. 10 out of the 200 went to Michigan.danquayle wrote:Lots of non-AA Michigan repping.beidoun wrote:If you look on the side of the website, you can see everyone who has already committed under the see the class link. Hey,
I think I'm going to end up deferring. I originally had a 90k scholarship, but Indiana is offering to up it to 105k if I wait another year.
Anyways, I already signed a lease at Poolside, so if people are still looking for housing and are interested in taking over my lease, let me know.

Don't ruin your credit over $5,000 a year additional scholarship money. Others posted that they were offered $10,000 a year increased scholarship money to defer a year.

Yep. Same problems. I was able to set up my IU e-mail account, and it forwards to my Gmail account... but it says I can't access to e-mail in OneStartbeidoun wrote:Has anyone accessed OneStart yet?

If you signed a lease, then you committed to paying rent for a year. Subleasing may be prohibited by your lease agreement or, if you do sublease, then you still remain liable for the rent & any damage.
Consider asking Indiana for $10,000 a year increase in scholarship as others have been offered according to earlier posts.

Re: Indiana Bloomington - Class of 2014
I was wondering this. Usually a lease will have some sort of penalty for exiting early (giving up your deposit, or a portion of it) but if you're thinking about $15,000 vs. the $650 deposit, it's not too much of a concern. But other things come up in life -- getting out of a lease early shouldn't be a credit-ruiner, or even a blip on the radar. Or are you thinking about subletting, if Poolside allows this?AboveTheLawSchool wrote:How would that ruin my credit?CanadianWolf wrote:Don't ruin your credit over $5,000 a year additional scholarship money. Edit: I suppose if they're dicks about it, it could be an issue. I guess I've only dealt with individual landlords, not management companies, and good notice + helping find another tenant always = no problems. But your experience might vary

Re: Indiana Bloomington - Class of 2014
I already anticipated losing my deposit, but it was only $300, so I'm not too concerned.
I am considering subleasing or breaking my lease early, both of which are allowed by poolside (as per my lease). If i break my lease, I am liable for payments until someone else signs on. But either way I don't think this will impact my credit...I hope.

I don't think your credit will be affected, but I don't have the lease agreement in front of me.

Re: Indiana Bloomington - Class of 2014
The lease agreement is kind of important in this situation.
P.S. Only consider the $5,000 a year increased scholarship if you have a job or other plans that you want to pursue. Also, the deferral may give you a second round of applications to reach schools.
P.P.S. It shouldn't negatively affect your credit if permitted by the lease contract & if all rent payments are timely made. Is $5,000 really worth paying rent on an empty unit & a year of your life ?

According to the fb page, he's already got two people interested in subletting and this just came up a few hrs ago.. Besides, we don't know what his situation is and why he's chosen to defer, he probably has a good reason and is already well aware of the opportunity costs inherent.

Poolside has a waiting list of at least five people for studios and one bedrooms. If they tell you that they won't be able to re-lease it immediately, they are not telling you the truth. The property manager is on vacation until the end of this week though so you may have some challenges getting anything done before Monday.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
