Joining this as I worry about aid. I got the 54k offer a week or so ago with the 4-page letter. Are we in agreement that this means no need-based aid and that I will be 150k in debt?

I assume so, although they have not responded to my questions. I wonder why you got the 54k offer, as I remember we have pretty much the same numbers right?

Adding up the 3 years, minus the scholarship, makes you really want to take a fullride + stipend offer from a a T30 school doesn't it?

If you get a stipend, then get funding for the first summer and work for the second summer, you will probably only need to take out less than 30-50k, most of it would be subsidized, which is a lot better than the 100k in PLUS loans we are currently looking at.

Even with 90k from UVA I am still staring at 100k in loans. If I get in-state for 2L/3L and work my ass off maybe I can stay off of PLUS?

That's why if Duke offered more, it would actually be a more attractive option.

It's so interesting that UVA immediately sent me significantly more money and Michigan said don't bother sending it. MEH. I can be bought.

So just incase people were still wondering.. The scholly offers we got include need-based aid. The part about a review in May is just fro loan eligibility.

I'm sure you guys know this already, but Duke is beautiful! Visited this past weekend and I thought the chapel looked like a castle. Amazing! Too bad the law school is a bit underwhelming, but that's ok.

Also, the campus is sort of in the middle of a forest.

I'm looking to sublet my furnished 2 bed/2 bath Apt at Alexan Garret Farms to any summer starters...available 2nd week of May through mid Aug...use of books and supplements included. 1L summer job update: unpaid gigs are cake. I applied for 2 and accepted at both within a week. Firms are a crapshoot. I know of one section with like 10 folks in paying firm jobs (also the only 10 I know of confirmed w/ paying gigs). As for firm interviews, I'm oh-fer 4 plus one outstanding (find out this week). Otherwise, unpaid for me.

I got mine like 9 days after it was mailed.

I am leaving my apartment a little over a month before my lease is up, and I am looking to sublet or assign the lease to another tenant. It is located in the Lenox at Patterson Place apartment complex, off 15-501 in Durham near I-40, in a nice neighborhood with convenient shopping, and is a short drive from Duke or UNC. It is a studio apartment with a partial wall separating the bedroom from the living room/kitchen, with good light and trees outside the window and sliding glass door.

Details:500 sq. ft; dishwasher; large bathroom; walk in closet; balcony

There is a pool, exercise room, office, car wash area, and laundry room on site. Pets are accommodated, but I do not have one.

$8k/year!!! As an ED'er with borderline numbers! Holy shit this just made my day. I haven't read all the paperwork yet (too excited), but I'm thinkin this is probably based a lot on need. Still, Duke had zero incentive to give me anything. Hot damn. I'll drink to that.
