I have 5 listed...oh, but no Contracts books.
$700 sounds a lot more reasonable still than what we've been hearing from other schools.
MOAR SUPPLEMENTS!!
But seriously, I haven't even thought about books yet. I should probably work on that. Meh.

My combined new-book prices still puts me under $500. This doesn't sound right.

WTF, I have like a dozen books listed, including supplements, and it runs just over $1000 for new at the NYU Bookstore. I'm in section 4.
...Did I hear something about a student book exchange where upperclassmen sell discounted books?

I mean, there were other books besides the casebooks, but I consider supplements to be like... outlines, etc, that aren't required by your classes, and all of mine were required.
Sign up for the Coases list in NYU home. I've been getting 15 emails a day about people selling their books and others looking for copies to buy.

If anyone who has Epstein for Contracts is buying stuff early, he apparently recommends the Chirelstein hornbook for the course. (Looked at past course evals)

Yea, I thought it was pretty interesting that different sections have different amounts of required books. I mean, it makes sense, but I hadn't though about it. Plus the variance in costs appears to be several hundreds of dollars.

Some of us aren't getting into the city for another 72 hours.
Hate my work for keeping me this late.

Yeah... I really wish I was in NY right now. Instead, I'm in a truck driving across the country...

No tax at NYU bookstore if you give them your student ID.

Well, shit.
Got off the phone with student financial services - if you're thinking about a budget increase for your computer AND LRAP, you're going to have to borrow the maximum amount in the year that you buy the computer and request a budget increase (because apparently there can't be a student expense budget increase from an amount that's not already the maximum) - which means that your three-year SC-related decrease in borrowing has to fit into two years (for example, max minus 1700 1L, max + increase 2L, max minus 3400 3L).
I'm hoping that all of those people I told not to borrow the max can get this sorted out. I'm not buying a computer this year, but I know most people are...

Damn, really? I subtracted my annual SC from my borrowing amount and definitely need to buy a laptop this year. I'm gonna get on the phone with them soon and sort this out. Thanks for the heads up.

This doesn't affect me, but it just seems like a horrible system. There may vey well be a good reason for this, but I can't think of one off the top of my head.

Also in section 4, can only see book list for Civ Pro from NYU Home(3 required books I think, blackboard links to the rest three courses not yet "opened"). Anyone in the same situation? Really appreciate it if someone pm me the list of "dozens" of books or tell me where to find it. Many thx!

Go to the actual bookstore website and search for your booklist via your NYU Id/birthdate.

I just got off the phone with FinAid and found out you can still have your loan request altered to borrow the maximum. You just send them this request by email and they'll make the change for you. After that you can buy the computer and any necessary hardware and request a budget increase corresponding to the purchase price.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
