Although Turow has never acknowledged or denied the connection, Miller has long thought himself the real Perini,[6] and conventional wisdom in the legal community has largely concurred.[7][8] In the book, Perini is depicted as brilliant but imperious, with a caustic wit and a flair for the dramatic. Readers of the book familiar with Harvard Law School and the history of Turow's three years at HLS have deduced that Turow took Miller, whose civil procedure course he took, and assigned his fictional counterpart Perini to teach contracts, and he also took Duncan Kennedy, his contracts professor, and transformed him into the civil procedure professor Nicky "Beat Nick" Morris.

This is a long shot, but: Would any of you be willing to put up my partner and me and our two (very quiet, very clean) cats for a few nights at the end of the month? Our temporary housing ends on the 25th and our lease doesn't begin until the 1st. We will cook for you, clean for you, whatever is necessary--we just need a place to stay for a few nights until we can move in.

The only thing I'm more allergic to than these Tea Party bozos are cats. And with the cats it's not even personal, I just stop breathing after a couple hours in their presence.Siamsa414 wrote:This is a long shot, but: Would any of you be willing to put up my partner and me and our two (very quiet, very clean) cats for a few nights at the end of the month? Is anyone planning on going to this 0L happy hour at 6:00 PM tonight? Some guy proposed it on Facebook. It's at a bar/tapas place called Ñ at 33 Crosby in SoHo. I'm considering it, but rain might scare me off.

Re: NYU Class of 2014
So it looks like we got our class assignments today, which are posted on the Blackboard, but I can't seem to find the schedule. Can you guys click on your courses to get more information about them like what time or where they are being held?
FYI to find your course list, it's NYU Home > Academics

I'm actually kind of excited about Miller. After CivPro, the next five semesters will seem like a breeze.
Fair tradeoff in my opinion.

Your "glass half full" perspective is sickening to me. Just shot a text to Chris and Snoop; they will be dropping by any minute now.incompetentia wrote:I'm actually kind of excited about Miller. After CivPro, the next five semesters will seem like a breeze.

Okay, I'm on my way to this happy hour. I'll be the one in a suit with a CivPro hornbook nestled in my arm.

I'm pretty sure it's just denial anyway. Once I get into NY, I'll start sobbing uncontrollably or something.

Thanks for that insight, Prof. Miller. Don't worry; I see your game here.okinawa wrote:the thing about miller is, he's all bark and no bite. he's almost a parody of himself in 1L and it's hard to know what's just a big joke to him and what he means. it won't be a harrowing experience (unless you make it that way with over worrying) or the worst class in law school.NYU1L2B wrote:Can someone fill me in on arthur miller? how bad is he that you all seem to know about him?

Be sure to check out your Blackboard account, as you might, like me, have an assignment to read an entire book before your first CivPro class.

The booklists that we get from entering in our IDs - I see there are some supplements listed? Is this all we need?
My combined new-book prices still puts me under $500. This doesn't sound right.

I had to buy 8 books. I met people in other sections that had to buy 10 and 12 books, but I don't think any of those people were in Section 3. Mine were around $700. No supplements included.incompetentia wrote:The booklists that we get from entering in our IDs - I see there are some supplements listed? Is this all we need?

$700 sounds a lot more reasonable still than what we've been hearing from other schools.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
