I'm super not-diverse and I'm going to the diversity reception! IT'LL BE FUN. We can come up with sneaky catchphrases and elaborate handshakes

BTW, did anyone else read the postings from last year's ASW? Apparently, everyone was really stuck up and annoying about other schools: putting down schools like Penn etc. One guy said he ultimately just told others he was deciding between Chicago and Norway to avoid annoyance.

P.S. - I love Norway.

LOL norway... I really hope that doesn't happen to us, I think I'd get pretty annoyed. Like whenever I tell people I'm considering Chicago and they go on for five minutes about how bad the weather is.

When I was at UVA, nearly EVERY SINGLE PERSON was like, "...but Chicago is so cold!"

At least that isn't trashing the school, though. Obviously Chicago kids are going to tell you Chicago's the best and UVA kids are going to tell you to go to UVA, but I'd definitely prefer to avoid srs trash-talking.

That's an interesting comment about last year's ASW, because at the Day in the Life the prevailing sense that I got was that Chicago students LOVE UChicago, but they made it clear it wasn't for everyone. It wasn't a "Chicago or bust!" mentality at all. I hope ASW is similar to my experience, because no one made me pressured to pick Chi or put other schools down. Can't wait to hear about everything!

Edit: not that I was going to pick another school, anyway.

Yes. I volunteer at a cat rescue and can tell you a companion cat is ALWAYS TTCR.

+1 I'm excited to meet people this weekend, and put some faces to these usernames and avatars. For the most part I picture everyone as a cat or dog right now. Except for Muenchen who I see as Sheldon.
