If I could get four other people with cars, I would love to live here. $540 per person.

Not that far, 4.5 miles, I don't know how bad traffic gets in Ithaca (It can't get that bad).FiveSermon wrote:How far from campus is that? Anyone else interested? I'm gonna give the landlord a call tonight and see if he/she minds having law school students as tenants.
There's traffic around that area?depending on traffic anywhere between 15 and 25 minutes

Wonder what utilities run for a place like that.
It's intriguing, but I'm probably going to opt to live closer to campus so I can stumble home from the bars at night.

What do you need bars for when you can throw your own barn parties!Bildungsroman wrote:Wonder what utilities run for a place like that.

Even if utilities are something like $1000, among five people that's still $740, not bad.

there can be.. depends on what time you are going to the school.. if you have an 830 class id leave earlier.. if its at 1030 you should be fine.. and then around 4-5 it will be busy also.. and when I say busy I dont mean busy in the sense that youll be sitting in a traffic jam.. its all one lane roads around there so if you get behind a car that decides its going 25 in a 45 and theres 20 cars driving to work behind them and youre 21st in line.. it can be both frustrating and take a little longerIkki wrote:

FWIW I currently live 22.5 miles away from my UG and with SoCal traffic it can take me up to an hour to get to school. Living 4.5 miles from school is really gonna be nothing.BlueDiamond wrote:there can be.. depends on what time you are going to the school.. if you have an 830 class id leave earlier.. if its at 1030 you should be fine.. and then around 4-5 it will be busy also.. and when I say busy I dont mean busy in the sense that youll be sitting in a traffic jam.. its all one lane roads around there so if you get behind a car that decides its going 25 in a 45 and theres 20 cars driving to work behind them and youre 21st in line.. it can be both frustrating and take a little longerIkki wrote:

Well, I plan to bring my car up to Ithaca. If I did opt to save money and got a cheaper one bedroom 2 miles away from campus, what is the parking situation like on campus? Is there a parking pass I can buy for a reasonable price? I would be really interested in that. If i'm already going to bring my car, I don't see why I should be stressing trying to get a place in Collegetown. I don't feel like being around alot of undergrads.

Parking situation on campus = abysmal. The closest lot that you will likely get will be behind the football stadium, which means you're in for at least 3/4 mile walk to the law school every day. Not fun in the Ithaca rain/snow/slush.lawschoolbound2014 wrote:Well, I plan to bring my car up to Ithaca. As a 1L living in Collegetown, I don't know too many people that drive to class every day. Instead, most people that I know who live that far out end up taking the TCAT busline. There are plenty of apartment complexes or houses that are 2 miles from campus that are close to bus lines and will have free parking.
Your other option is to buy a parking spot in a garage in Collegetown, but those permits run for about $185 a month.
Hope this Helps.

Re: Cornell Class of 2014
Anyone else here thinking of leaving their car behind when they move to Ithaca? I'll probably be living on a bus route and within walking distance of a grocery store, so the prospect of saving money on gas, insurance, upkeep + parking is very appealing to me. Anyone think this is a crazy idea? The only downfall I see is I'd like to do some fishing and hiking on the weekends and it'd be hard to get there without wheels, but I also know I'm probably kidding myself about how much time I'll have free for all that anyway.

Hey guys -
I will be joining Cornell Law Class of 2014. Nervous as hell, as I just did a few Google searches and law school and social life. Terribly depressed.
All I've done is sending the first deposit...I wasn't able to visit. I suppose I should start being worried about housing and classes and stuff. So far what I've been the most worried about is the cold. I'm from SoCal and I go to school in the South. Go figure.
What's the general recommendation living-situation wise for a 1L female?

Err, not really. Subtropical creature here, not really ready to endure Ithaca's infamous >4 months of icy whiteness. Spending my first year's winter in Hughs = no need to tread SNOW (horrible horrible) to go to class = somewhat soothing.

Hi guys!
I was just wondering where you send in the deposit of $250. I was just accepted today and in the email pdf it said it's due in a week but I didn't see any deposit voucher form or a specific address I was supposed to mail it to. Thanks!
